Great dining experience. The staff is very friendly and take the time explain the menu and give suggestions. Food is well seasoned and tasty with a hearty portion.
I visited from Nashville. I heard about FishScale, and I made sure to add it to the itinerary for my D.C. trip. The food was delicious. I had the True Blue MD Crab sandwich/burger with a side of fried potatoes. I loved it.
What a pleasant ambiance. Our hostess was so gracious that it made us, my family and me, feel so special! My "jerk" fish sandwich was amazing and my wife, a crab cake aficionado, was enthused about her sandwich. We will visit again soon!
The food here is extraordinary! I ordered the jerk salmon cheesesteak and 3 crab tacos. Each item was fresh and delicately prepared to be visually stunning (see my pictures…doesn’t that look amazing). The jerk salmon cheesesteak was phenomenal! The jerk sauce added some heat and the salmon was juicy and perfectly cooked. The crab tacos were perfectly seasoned and had amazing flavor. Do not sleep on FishScale! I will never forget my first visit here.
True blue crab sandwich was perfect. Japanese sweet potatoe are addictive and the grilled romaine was delicious. Highly recommend. I will support again.
Fantastic food and great experience. We were given a walkthrough of the menu and suggestions for combinations to try. You can't go wrong with any combination, both of our meals were delicious! The owners were fantastic and we love their approaches to eating sustainably. We would visit DC just to eat here!
Okay i’ve been getting the jerk salmon cheesesteak from here about once per week for the past two months. I could not recommend this place more. The food is 10000/10 and the service and care from the owner and chef is absolutely incredible.
They consistently provide some of the best comfort food i could ask for.
My only issue with this most incredible establishment is that they don’t have more locations all over the city. If you need a good lunch or dinner this week, get fishscale. It has become my go-to spot for dinner when i can’t figure out what else I want to eat.
My husband and I were here for the first time. He ordered porgy with sides n I salmon with sides. I am salt sensitive. However, the chef cooked everything to our expectations! Delicious times two!
Stopped by while on a campus tour with my son last week. Tried the Jerk Cheesesteak with catfish with Japanese sweet potatoes and it absolutely delicious!! My son had the True Blue Maryland Crab burger. Actually he had 2 (Lol) because it was that good. Loved the concept, the friendly owners, and the food was just flat out good. I'll be stopping through whenever I'm town!
I had the Chesapeake cheesesteak, with Maryland blue catfish cooked to perfection with sauteed onions and peppers, and melted provolone on an absolutely perfectly grilled roll, topped with a spicy cream sauce. It was to die for. Everything is made fresh to order, but it is well worth the wait. Excellent and friendly service. Fun and interesting drink choices. Hands down the best food we have had in DC. I had the mahi mahi tacos and my date had the crab cake burger. We are visiting from california and almost went down to the wharf for dinner but based on the great reviews we decided to come here instead. Boy are we glad we did. Not only was the food amazing but the entire staff were friendly and helpful and passionate about their business. If we lived here we would be regulars. Thanks for the great meal!

FishScale was a breath of fresh air compared to the service I have received everywhere else in the DMV area. I told the male owner it was my first time and he gave me a breakdown of the whole menu, description of the fish and how it was caught, and he was happy the entire time. I received my food in a timely manner, and it tasted great and fresh. The corn pudding was amazing and a must have side dish when you come. I came outside of peak hours, so I was able to sit comfortably, if you come during peak hours expect to have difficulty finding seating because there are two 4-seat tables and two 2-seat tables as seen in the pictures posted by the owner. The prices were comparable, in some cases lower, than similar dining experiences in the DMV, but all of their fish is fresh and they take pride in offering the best seafood available in the region. The brother and sister owners take pride in their restaurant and will keep customer service and satisfaction the number one priority.
FishScale is incredible in multiple ways. The People working were friendly and informative. The restaurant and it's bathroom very clean. All ingredients noticeably fresh. 3 of us had the crab burger. It was original and very good. I had the Japanese sweet potatoes as my side. They were delicious. My wife had the blue catfish Mumbo over rice. It is the best catfish she has ever eaten.. They were delicious. I told the brother and sister who own the restaurant that they have created something very special. I highly recommend eating at FishScale.
Best quality sandwich I’ve had in DC. Great service, great sandwich and great fries. Happy I came here.
Oh. My. God. I would give this 6 stars if I could. Honestly this was recommended from a girl on Tik Tok, but after eating here I trust all of her recommendations. I could eat the jerk salmon cheese steak everyday. I didn’t know salmon could taste like that! The staff was great, & they have really unique wine from a women owned business. FishScale is Black-Owned and the owner himself was preparing our food. All of the staff & owner were so friendly. He thanked us for coming in, and a young women working brought us more napkins to our table when things got a bit messy. But even without the great customer service I would be back in a heartbeat for the food!!

We want more!! My boyfriend and I drive past this place all the time and finally made time to place an order. The crab cake sandwich and catfish street tacos were SO GOOD!! The flavors were just perfect, and the free bag of chips was a nice touch. We'll definitely be placing another order!
