Pretty good spot. The rooftop was amazing at sunset. The fish and cauliflower tacos were solid and had a kick, but probably not worth $5. They had a really cool dining set up where we were easily able to bring a bunch of tables together for our group of 12. I will be coming back!

Really awesome bar! Spent hours on the rooftop of this place. The decor is quite fun. Really enjoyed the fish tacos and the deal that comes with two beers, chips, guac, and salsa! Really personable bartenders. Worth a visit especially on a nice day.
This is one of my favorite U Street bars. Everyone goes down the street to El Rey but Cortez is the real hidden gem. Prices are reasonable, it's always full of people but never feels crowded, and it has a great rooftop! I love ending the night here with margaritas on the roof.

I hosted an event at Cortez and it was amazing! The venue was nice (we booked the heated rooftop and it had great views of U street) and it was perfect for the group size I had (about 30). The drinks were really good (our favorite was the cranberry ginger marg) and the bartender was great. Excellent
My friend and I were at Cortez on Wednesday night. We had a great time on the rooftop bar. All of the food was delicious, especially the fish tacos and elote. Food and drinks were at a great price and very affordable and the bar is filled with cool decor that catches your eye.
The taco and beer happy hour deal is definitely a steal! Each taco we had was exceptionally stuffed, and the flavor profiles of each were amazing. The fish taco in particular had an amazing sauce that I'll definitely go back for.
Came here and got their elote and also got their cauliflower taco. I didn’t really like their cauliflower taco. It just tasted weird to be. Nothing wrong with it but cauliflowers shouldn’t be in tacos in my opinion. That was the only vegetarian option available. The elote was absolutely delicious. P
I went to Cortez DC for a celebration in the semiprivate area on the rooftop. It had a small rooftop area but it's great for happy hour. The fish tacos that I had wasn't bad and the frozen margarita was your standard margarita.
LOVED EVERYTHING!!!! My friend and I went here on a Saturday night because we were bar hopping, and we ended up staying for 3-4 hours. Great vibes from the staff!!! The drinks were awesome too!!
