Just ate pulled pork, ribs and cole slaw at a party in Ohio. Relatives brought big pans from Hogfathers and it was fantastic. Didn't eat the homemade desserts, just went back for more pork!
Ate here for the first time ever, my brother in law recommended it after he had food from the Canonsburg location. The food was excellent, the fried chicken was so tender and moist with good flavor and the ribs were fall off the bone delicious. The Mac and cheese was the bomb. The smokehouse chili was full of flavor! The BBQ sauce was really good and I'm not usually a BBQ sauce fan. The staff was very friendly and attentive and the facility was clean. The atmosphere is nice. I will most definitely be returning here!
We found this place while spirit driving on Small Business Saturday. What a find! The bacon wrapped barbecue shrimp was amazing, as were the corn muffins. My husband had the pulled pork sandwich, and he made yummy noises the entire time he ate it. The service was fantastic as well. Our server actually held the door for us as we entered and exited the place. We highly recommend them if you are in the neighborhood.
I would have given 5 stars as Hog Fathers has been a favorite eatery of mine for several years.
However on my visit tonight, I asked to substitute Golden Fries for Sweet Potato Fries in my Fried chicken dinner and was billed for an additional item, without receiving the sweet potato fries. Turns out, it's a new policy to not allow substitutions, even if it's for a lower price side. This is the most idiotic policy ever.
Also, if you're going to have such a policy, the menu should clearly state No Substitutions! The serving staff should also make customers aware of it when ordering.
I would suggest the management or ownership seriously look into changing idiotic policies like this before they lose customers.

BBQ sauce is outstanding. They sold out of the 1/2 chicken but substituted chicken breasts. Sweet potato fries were very good.

Great Pulled Pork Sandwich!. Not long after the Canonsburg restaurant opened, I tried the pulled pork bbq sandwich, thought it was really good. Then a couple weeks ago I was at a high-priced eatery in Lancaster and tried their pulled-pork sandwich. Not bad, I thought, but I think Hogfathers might have been better. I was right. Just had another one at Hogfathers and it was super. My wife got the 1/2 BBQ chicken and she liked it too. Yhe staff is very friendly, make you feel at home. Highly recommend!
We make it a point to stop on our trips between Virginia and Indiana. The BBQ is awesome and so are the sides.

Ehh... Its ok. Pulled pork sandwich is pretty good, ribs not so much. Im not surprised so many people like them, after all this is Washington... Most think Osso's makes great pizza too... Like I said, its ok...
Down Home BBQ. The setting is quaint, with interesting memorabilia hanging on the walls and the food was good. The pulled pork sandwich was swimming in their version of "Carolina style" sauce and definitely left a tang in your mouth. The ribs were pretty tasty as well. The meat came clean off the bone, just like it should and the sauce wasn't overpowering, which meant that the subtle taste of the smoke and char really came through. As far as the side dishes go, the mac and cheese was AWESOME, very creamy and delicious. The coleslaw wasn't bad, it just didn't taste any different from buying it premade at the supermarket. The bowl of chili was also lacking some spice. I wish I had tried the cornbread just to round things out, but there was no way I could fit in any more food. Portions are big enough to not leave you wondering if that's all you'll get.
The BBQ pork sandwich is pretty yummy, as are the ribs. My fave is the mac & cheese. SOOO aMazing. Seriously. I think there's cream cheese in it. And the giant carrot cake is a really really good, too.
BBQ Chicken is Wonderful!. Hogfather's is a favorite stop of ours when traveling from Pittsburgh to Morgantown. The chicken is incredibly tender and we love the sauce. Favorite sides are sweet potato fries and Mac and Cheese. The only thing that would make it better would be if they offered some kind of green side such as green beans or collard greens. They always seem happy to see us and treat us like family.
Haven't had a bad meal. We love this restaurant and have been here many times. Everything is our favorite so I can't tell you what to order. We even had one of the best porterhouse steaks we have ever eaten here. We just so happened to be there on the day it was the special. They also have items some times that are not on the menu. They make a chocolate muffin top with this pudding that is out of this world. It is hit or miss if it is available and it is not on the menu. Don't forget to ask you may just have made it there on the right day. I am sure you will not be disappointed if you go to hog fathers.
Best BBQ Ribs I've had in a long time. I make ribs every weekend in the fall, I'm a huge ribs fan and can honestly say this is in the top 3, if not #1. The Mac n cheese was the best ever, try to top it, you will fail. Great place 5 stars.
Best Ribs I have ever had!!. Found Hog Father's by accident. What a find! The best Babyback ribs I have ever had. Tender, meaty,not a spec of waste. The BBQ was spot on, not too sweet and not too tangy. The Mac&Cheese side was unique, full of flavor, and texture. Not your usual M&C.
My souse had the Carolina style puuled-pork sandwitch, and was well pleased. All portions were generous, the service was fantastic. Where else can you find a team that opens the door for when you arrive and when you leave.
Make the trip, you won't regret it.

My gfriend and I both had the pulled pork sandwich with both sauces Spicy Red & Carolina BBQ -(we advise getting sauce on side can make bun a bit soggy)
Then we shared our sides which were sweet potato fries, mac n cheese (delicious,i might add) and cole slaw all washed down by sweet tea and waters
We didn't have room for the homemade carrot cake but looked great also.
Next time gonna try beef brisket and chili.
Definitively recommend this place !!
Best BBQ in Pittsburgh Area. We've been here about 6-8 times over the last year. It's a small place and not fancy at all. They always greet you at the door and open it for you, which is a nice touch. The wait staff is friendly and knowledgable with the menu. The baby back ribs are fantastic. They are meaty and tender with a nice tangy sauce.
Try the pulled pork sandwich with the Carolina sauce. The pork is moist and tender. It's topped with onion straws and jalepno's.
They usually have beef brisket available, but its not on the menu. The brisket is very tender with a nice "bark" around it.
The side dishes are pretty average, with the exception of the sweet potato fries, which are great and hard to find on Western PA menus. They serve beer there, which goes well this type of menu. My family and I love this place. I give it a 5 out of 5.

Best BBQ around. I travel a lot with work throughout Pennsylvania and West Virginia, and its automatic every time I near, I must stop. From the ribs to the pulled pork or the chili or onion straws, its easy to say this is the best all around bbq join in the pittsburgh area. Do yourself a favor and try it out.

The Stuff NC would be proud of it they made it in NC. I spent a year and a half trying to find what the big deal North Carolina 'cue was all about and came away disappointed.....the pulled pork in all five places I tried (okay, except for the chain, Jim & Nic's) was similar to what my cat did to the back of my couch....stringy and dry. I was in the process of making many drives from NC to PA and back when I espied Hogfathers'. Closed in the mornings, I promised myself I would leave late enough the next time.....damn, I'm glad I did. The pulled pork is what NC wishes they could do! The sweet potato fries! Now, if I could only get them to do off-the-menu orders. I tried to order chopped pork over french fries with melted yellow cheese and both times I did, it was hard to explain. Didn't get what I wanted but it was still really good. I have no idea what the rest of the food tastes like, all I can say, is get out of my way for the pork and sweet potato fries!
Simply the Bast. A group of us happened to stumble upon Hog Fathers Old Fashioned BBQ. We were greeted at the door by the wait staff who had a table for 6 already set up. I had the brisket. it was amazing, moist, smoky and tender, served on a roll that was grilled with butter. Trust me, you do not need to sauce this sandwich. The baked bean were also amazing, molasses and bacon in addition to the standard ingrediants. My buddy had the BBQ chicken which was also amazing. Moist and the BBQ was out of this world. I would walk over hot coals to eat there again.
Hometown Barbeque. A few things to note: small seating area, seat yourself upon entering, ala carte menu (i.e., order sides separately). Otherwise, Hogfather's is honestly the best barbeque there is! Everything is absolutely delicious! The pulled pork sandwich is amazing and the barbeque shrimp is as well. The pulled pork was cooked to perfection with lots of moisture and plenty of taste. A must-eat in Washington!
Fantastic. This is not only the best BBQ that I've had from a restaurant, but the prices really cannot be beat. The sides are enormous and delicious and the racks are to die for! You must try this place.
Good eats.. Hf's is a small place with a clasic bbq menu of ribs, pork, brisket, chicken and sides. I've been there a few times and have enjoyed myself each time. I'm partial to their ribs, pork and brisket. They smoke their meets in house and then finish them off by basting them on the flat top which caramelizes the sauce which is peppery, sweet and tomato and vinegar based.
Decent prices and service. Thumbs up.
Great place. Authentic 'Carolina Style' sauce available. Pork is off the charts. Have sweet potato fries. Yum. Corn muffins are less than desirable. Small dining area but great place for a work lunch.
One of my favorites.. Everything that I have tried here has been great. I am especially fond of the baby back ribs. Even their basic fried chicken sandwich is the best around. 5 Stars
Best BBQ around.. This is by far the best BBQ joint around, everything on the menu is good and worth every penny. I much rather visit this place than your chain restruants like Texas Roadhouse, doesn't even compare in my opinion. Both style ribs are tender, juicy and more importantly, have meat on them! Nothing worse than ordering ribs and getting bone and fat. The sandwhiches are top notch with the Pot Roast Wrap being a personal favorite and the sides are great complements to everything on the menu. If you like the microwave style ribs at Texas Roadhouse and Applebees, your gonna fall in love with Hogfathers!

We had Hogfathers cater our post-holiday family, Pitt game party - ribs, pulled pork, Cole slaw, and baked beans. Fabulous! Ribs were lean but delicious; the meat literally fell off the bones. We can absolutely recommend Hogfathers.

Pulled pork sandwich. This is one hell of a sandwich. they use good bread and they put fried onion strings on the sandwich as well as Jalepenos. I would recommend this one to anyone
