The chairs were imported from Mexico. Great food and the scenery was magnificent.

I was in there this evening with a group of women and it took a 1/2 hour for them to take are drink orders then 1 1/2 hr. To get our food. Never came back the whole time to see if we needed any drink refills. They had three people setting up another party next to use they set The beers and all the chips and salsa out. when we couldn’t even get a serving of chips and salsa . The party next to use didn’t even show up until after we got our food . I thought that this was a very horrible service and the food was not that great .

I had passed this place a few times in the past and found myself in the area so I called and was greeted in Spanish! Authentic, check. And they were open for dine in, yes!
When I get there I was floored by the decor. If it weren't for COVID-19 I would definitely set up a dinner date party with friends here. Aside from the bright and cheerful setting, it was good to see the place following social distance guidelines.
So let me tell you how pleasantly surprised I was that they have the "fun meats" available that I like to eat. I usually go to SW Detroit, where there's is a large Latin community, to order Tamarindo de agua (tamarind-aide), lengua (beef tongue) and tripas (beef tripe) tacos, and menudo (beef tripe) soup. I was SO HAPPY that I could place this order here as well. And, yes, I ate all of it. 😁 Delicious 😋. I even ordered another taco dinner to go to bring to my hubs- carne asada (marinated beef) and al pastor (marinated pork), we'll see later how much he likes it.
Oh, and while eating my meal I noticed a steady stream of Latin folks come through. It's assuring to see this place is supported by the community. I almost forgot I wasn't in SW Detroit! I'll definitely be back when I'm in the area... I might even bring my laptop too since I saw an outlet next to the booth in the back. 🤓
Update: my hubs liked his take out and wants try this place out in person, so I can't wait to come here again.

Small place but very friendly, "real" Mexican atmosphere, no rice in the burrito ' big plus' for me,,,, now not so good - tacos need more meat in them [ I kno meat is expensive] but they really do need more meat in them if I can count them without touching the taco. Still good though, I'll go back for more.

Will never come back. I have never been treated so rudely before by the staff. I asked if I could get something and I was just told no. I would’ve gladly payed the extra for it had she told me it was an option. I called to ask for a manager and was hung up on! She refused to give me the other stores phone number and was lying to me about a manager not being at either store for the next week as I called the other store and was told he was there?? Then go up there and won’t let me speak to a manager!!! WHY CANT I TALK TO WHOS IN CHARGE??? Never again will this place see my money.

I had breakfast. Ordered chorizo and eggs with beans and rice. I guess the server was new and young. After serving me she disappeared. As I began to try my food the beans were cold, not warm but cold. I couldn't identify the eggs and the chorizo did not have any bite to it. The rice did have a few green peas in it which is a Mexican tradition. The chorizo I am used to which I buy at E&L market in Detroit is fresh, red when I cook mine at home. I have eaten chorizo and eggs for eighty years so I know what is s good. My rating is for breakfast only as I have taken my family there many times. The dinners are a five.

1st off might want to call before going, hours are different because of Covid.
Good food. Love the decor. Lots of menu choices.

Taqueria San Jose is not only consistently good, but also very affordable and they have great authentic food. It's such a cool little place from their hand carved tables and chairs to the kindness of the staff.
