Fairness alert: I only came here for a birthday celebration and had eaten earlier in the day at a football party. I only had a piece of cake, and it was good, but that's all I ate. I heard no complaints from the orders in my party about their meals. Still, I was disappointed that menu items that were available when I was a regular patron (about 9 years ago) are no longer available. Service was above par. Our waiter, Jordan, was extremely attentive and took care of our large party by himself. I will update when I next have a meal, here.

Kayla was an amazing and we had a great dinner! The Bone was amazing and we shared it with 4 of us and still had some left over! Definitely a great deal! Thanks for this great experience’

This was my first visit to this restaurant and it did not disappoint. Food was hot and fresh. It was seasoned very well and the portion size was more than enough for me. I had the Korean BBQ pork belly pops as an appetizer. It came out quickly and was great. As my entree I had the pick 3 favorites with jalapeño cheese smoked sausage smoked wings and brisket ($5 upcharge but so worth it. To top it off our server DJ was attentive, helpful, and pleasant. 10 out of 10 recommend.

Highly recommend eating here if you love BBQ food. Everything is cooked perfectly and they will cook to your taste. The waitress was very attentive to my table, even with them being busy. I try to stop here to eat when I'm in the area. It is priced fairly. Especially for how good it is. 10/10

Street corn, brisket chili, brisket grilled cheese, pulled pork Mac and cheese and brisket baked potato. Food was very good. Chili needed more something so added the Taki street corn and ate it with tortilla chips. Highly recommend the blackberry lemonade!

We had Haley as our waitress and she was very helpful. She was fast and always had our waters full. She brought us her favorite sauce!

I loved the baby back ribs with pulled pork in a sandwich (crunchy bread with garlic) with mashed potatoes and broccoli, they have various bbq sauces (my favorite the Chipotle one). My friends got the full rack of ribs with beans (delicious).
For the dessert the chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream was my favorite but doughnuts were delicious too (berries sauce was my prefer than the chocolate one).
Artasia was our waitress and she was lovely and very helpful with recommendation. She was pending on everything, the food was in our table less than 10 min later...

It was dinner-and-a-show at one of our favorite West Chester restaurants tonight. We got to watch the manager change several lightbulbs in the ceiling. He was hilarious! The food was great too!

Our server Kayla was awesome, and so was the food!
I was originally worried by the cost of the cornbread appetizer, but after eating it other cornbread cannot measure up.
The Double Stack Burger was HUGE and very good! I ordered mine cooked Medium Rare, and it was done to perfection. I added the KC BBQ to the pulled pork and it made the burger perfect.
I would give 6 stars if I could.

How can this place be so good...and so bad? the burgers are some of the best for a chain, build your own...Yes!
French dip Yes!
Taco's Yes!
Then.... BBQ what is wrong the Brisket is hit or miss, great or lack of flavor, the ribs over cooked... fall of the bone is good but not fall of the bone every time.

Now they say the Wings are some of the best...
We will try..

The folks at Smokey Bones know the way to my heart...we're about to discuss a ginormous bone-in ribeye. Hells yeah! . Smokey Bones is located in West Chester and by the name - yes they're known for their barbecue. They're off Exit 19 (the Ikea exit). There used to be one in Eastgate but it closed last fall.

Sad, sad, place. We were looking for somethimg different and decided to give smokey bones a try. Have you ever seen the tv show kitchen nightmares?? That's what seemed to be going on here. Pretzel and cheese appetizer was aweful. Whatever was in the cup was not cheese, some sort of watery mess with a few chunks in it. The rest of the meal was also terrible. Something is going on there and its not good. Wouldn't go back if it was free.

Disappointed. I planned a party of 20 plus for their back room weeks ahead of time. The took care of us getting in, they did have the entire back room for us. The problem arose from them giving us one server. He tried handling all of our orders at one time. A lot of the orders were far delayed, almost 2 hours. Orders were wrong, the food was cold. We had two ladies complain to the manager and simply were told they were busy. I left with no words complaining not even realizing how bad it was until I heard. Burgers were eaten because they were pink with a well done request, bacon burgers not having bacon. Drinks were forgotten. It will be impossible to bring back any of the folks that were with me. The place has good food, but never ever bring a large party there. I realize now it's more of a place to simply have a cold beer and a few wings at the bar.

I didnt like nothing! My w.... I didnt like nothing!
My waitress was super busy with a lot of customers n I ask the manager well the guy on the front dress like one n he took for ever like he didn't care walks super slow n I can see everything hr doing but walking around the bar but with some kind of pacient wen I been waiting 15 mins for a check to leave the food was not want I wanted

Disappointed. I went between lunch and dinner rush. My server was awesome and very attentive, but the food was disappointing. My turkey avocado burger was bland. The 'premium' mac and cheese tasted like is came from a box. I exchanged the mac and cheese for the baked beans (which I was assured didn't have meat by a different server) but I found some in there anyways. The only saving grace was the loaded fries (minus bacon), but I didn't drive halfway across town for fries.

Took the staff to Smokey Bones and we all liked our selections. Server was great and we had a good meal and will return.
Excellent Chef
Mediocre dinner experience overall. Waste of money on the beef brisket - it was dry and tasteless resembling beef jerky rather than brisket.

Shoe Leather. Went for dinner as a party of 6 on a Saturday evening. The restaurant was maybe half full. I ordered the St Louis full rack of ribs. The ribs looked good on the plate, but were difficult to cut with a knife and my first bite was like eating beef jerky. Incredibly tough. By the time the manager showed, the rest of my party was more than half finished with their meals so there was no time to even try a replacement meal. Then the waitress brings me a bill and once more I get to chat with the manager. I'm not paying for a meal that shouldn't have been served and I sent back after the first bite.
So I went in for dinner and left nearly 2 hours later not having eaten. No way I will ever go back to a Smokey Bones anywhere. Horrible experience.

Awful Service. I like Smokey Bones restaurants - but stay away from this one. I stopped in with 2 kids for a quick meal. There were no more than 20 people in the place. It took 30 minutes to get drinks. Another 45 minutes to get the food. After waiting a further 20 minutes for the server to show up with the bill - I just just guessed, left the cash on the table (told another server that money was on the table) and left. I have never complained about anything at a restaurant, and I didn't this time either. Besides there were a couple of other people rightfully complaining.

At best mediocre bbq, and terrible staff.

Meh. I went to lunch here for the first time today. I wasn't terribly impressed. It has a sort of "rustic sports bar" theme, with a faux wood cabin look coupled with tv's everywhere.
I got the choose 2 combo with pulled pork and beef brisket. Both were really dry and salty. There was an ever so slight smoke flavor to them, but as another reviewer noted, nothing like the intense smoke taste at Jim Dandy's.
I got fire roasted corn and baked beans for my sides. The corn was decent, but the baked beans were ridiculously hot when served and felt like they had been microwaved.
The bartender was really pleasant and nice, so service was a plus. She actually offered without me asking to give me a refill on my drink to go, which probably shouldn't be a big deal, but it is a little bit of extra effort and concern that went a long way with me.
If I didn't have any other BBQ options in the area, I'd probably give it another shot. However, while not terrible, it just doesn't measure up to the competition.

Good BBQ, service very inconsistent. The meats are very good here. A lot of BBQ places in Ohio claim that they "smoke" their meats but serve stuff that tastes like it's roasted. Smokey Bones actually delivers the goods and every type of meat that I have gotten here - pulled pork, ribs, chicken, brisket - has a light but consistent smoke flavor.

What isn't so good at this location is the service. On a recent visit our server juuuust toooook foorrrrever to get us basic things like drinks, never checked on us to offer us refills or ask how we liked items we got, did not recommend anything on the menu, and just dropped the check on the table with no comment at the end without asking us if we needed anything else. The management here is probably weak.

Smokey Bones Revisited. This is my second review, based on a recent return to Smokey Bones. A lot has changed in four years, but not for the better.

Overall, quality has taken a dive and prices have been jacked up. Good barbecued pork has good smokey flavor without having to slather on barbecue sauce at the table and it should be falling-off-the-bones tender so that sawing it with a serrated knife should not be necessary. I'm guessing that Smokey Bones doesn't barbecue or otherwise use any smoke to prepare its pork, which has no taste of its own. Drinks from the bar are as overpriced as the food. Service is best described as "frequent hovering for tips" but not really attentive.

Go to Applebee's for better food, beverage, service and value, or Jim Dandy's for barbecue as good as it gets.

-----07 Nov, 2011-----

Response to Smokey Bones. Smokey Bones, I wrote a favorable review, but soliciting "like me" votes on Facebook subtracts a few points from my review. Are you a teenage girl?

-----03 Feb, 2011-----

Your better than average BBQ. I love good barbecue, especially pulled pork. Smokey Bones is good, especially for a chain. I'd grade it about the same as City Barbecue, far superior to Barbecue Revue, but lacking the unique sophistication of Jim Dandy's rich, smokey flavor. The service and ambiance are excellent. The atmosphere is kinda sports-barish, but the dining area is reasonably quiet, not dominated by a flat screen sports venue and quite comfortable for casual dining and talking with other guests at the table.

What's best about Smokey Bones is the combination: really good barbecue + a variety of real vegetable sides + table service + reasonable prices. Basically good food and a good value.

Good to the Bone. I have eaten here twice now and I am impressed. The service is very good and the food is as well. I have had the pulled pork and smokey wings, and was very pleased with the quality and taste.

It is a southern barbecue style so there are things like brisket, pulled pork, smoked chicken wings, etc. Make sure you sign up for their "Bones Club" so that you can receive a discount on your first visit and a birthday bonus.

Nice little joint. Great staff. Efficient & friendly.
Food is good for the price point. Appetizers aren't so hot.
Turkey, meats & ribs, sides and cornbread are really good. Why not offer a corn bread muffin instead of just yucky "Texas Toast"? $5 for corn bread is ridiculous.
Donuts uses to be great. Now the are just hard & heavy. 10/15/10 review update: they took the Memphis style ribs off the menu. Sorry but the Baby Backs aren't as good. Got addicted to the Blackened Grouper over the summer. That has changes as well & it's awful. Don't know if they are buying a lower quality of product &/or the cooks are over cooking the food but it's hot or miss these days.

Smokey Bones is one of those restaurants, that I’ve passed a million times, and have just decided against it. Mostly, because I’m just really over the whole BBQ mania. And, I assumed that’s all they had. I’m not sure what got into me, but on a whim, we pulled in, one day, for lunch. There’s a lot of “fun” signs hanging around – and the atmosphere seemed upbeat. Our server was great and on top of everything! Food ! You know I have a weakness, for fried pickles (even though the nachos looked REALLY delicious)… They were very good – perfect breading and good seasoning. Wasn’t wild about the ranch, though. After much back and forth – and more, back and forth. (The desserts looked awesome – I thought about ditching lunch all together and just order dessert as a meal!) The husband decided on… I believe that was a Pick 2 Combo – pulled pork, turkey, baked beans and roasted corn. Apparently, he doesn’t feel the same way about BBQ that I do. He’s been to Smokey Bones before so…he already knew
