The wife and I have been hitting all the new restaurants around Connecticut and this one came highly recommended. A'vert did not disappoint! The waiter was very polite, he also was extremely helpful with the menu when it came to some of the difficult to pronounce French dishes. Not snobby at all. Very friendly and inviting. The food was amazing. Hands down some of the best food I've had in Connecticut. I ordered the braised short rib which was so tender I could eat it with just a fork. The au jus was light yet flavorful accentuating the delicious beef and elevating the bed of fingerling potatoes. The meal was finished with a perfect chocolate crème which had both hints of fudge and pudding. The wine selection was excellent, we tried a Rosé and Pinot Gris from the Rhone and Alsace respectively and were very satisfied. The atmosphere was also enchanting. The decor made my wife and I feel like we were on vacation in Europe versus West Hartford. We will definitely be returning and recommending A'vert to friends! Bon appétit!

Amazing. From the decor to the ambiance, to the hospitality, to the perfect (and I mean perfect) food this place is the best. I was lucky enough to come here for the French Connection dinner they had this week and it was the greatest thing I have ever attended in my life. The food was so delicious we asked the chef to come by our table just to say Thank you and ask "how he was able to put perfection on a plate?!". He was so humble, kind and smiled. The owner attended and walked around saying hello. The attention to detail could not have been better from the friendliness of the waitstaff, the superb decor and especially the food. I cannot wait to go back. Thank you for such a spectacular evening!!

Met a friend there tonight, first time there. Bar service was excellent, the beer was very cold and came with a frosted glass, perfect. Ordered food, the hanger steak and fries was perfect, very salty on the fries but expected and to my liking. Salad looked great, crème brulee was delicious. Excellent place, highly recommend it!

A wonderful place to grab a nice lunch. Reminds me of some of the good Brasseries I've gone to in Geneva. The wait staff, especially Noel, are attentive and amazing. Food comes out quickly and is absolutely delicious. This is a must go place for lunch and I hope to be back for dinner soon.

My friend & I came for happy hour and it was great. I ordered a French 75 which was good. She had a Kit Royale and enjoyed it..We ordered the escargot, baked Brie, truffle fries with aioli, mussels & carmelized onion dip with chips. Everything was delicious. And to end it all I ordered the chocolate mousse dome which was amazing. She had the chocolate pot de creme and loved it.. Definitely will be returning soon..

If you love classic french prepared dishes, you're in for a treat! The menu at this Brasserie is a perfect blend of all the favorites. Try the steak frites or short ribs. Yum!!! The service is solid, and the wine list very complimentary .

Chef Jared Posocco outdid himself last evening. The dinner he prepared falls into the top 5 I have ever eaten, and I have eaten dinner in the Eiffel tower. From our first course with the lox, onion soup, and cheese board, and pike dumplings. To our entrees (one casoulet, one mussels, one chicken, and one homemade noodles with wild mushrooms) in which everyone was pleased. Of course we still saved a bit of room for dessert and we were glad we did. We enjoyed the chocolate bomb, a creme brulee, profiteroles and a cookie. We all ordered different items and had a chance to try a bite of each others. We were all thrilled and plan to return again soon. An amazing restaurant and experience.

So it was my first time at Avert, and being a vegetarian I would say it was a tough choice for me as they have limited option for vegetarian whereas for my husband it was an awesome experience. I loved there service, I dun remember the name of my server but he was very good and knowledgeable. We got the desert as complimentary, but I must say as mentioned in other reviews as well, that dere desert was something to fall for.

Started poorly with them not having the reservation I made. The manager sat us down anyway and it was great from there. The French onion soup is the best I've ever had. I ordered the duck and it was cooked perfectly. The waitress was quick and attentive.

First time at this amazing place. Sat at the bar, Joe the bartender guided us in selections from the menu. Oysters and escargot to start, simply delicious. Bread with butter, YUM. Then moved on to the crocque monsignor sandwich with an egg. Desert to go....would do it all again. Something delicious and different. EXCELLENT.

All my Avert pictures from this fall. My boyfriend and I love it here. The half-tray of seafood thing is excellent. Didn't love the louis sauce on the crab salad, but the dilly salmon salad is great. On the cheese board bijou, roquefort, and ossau iraty are best, with the smoked duck breast, pâte de campagne, and chicken liver mousse for meats. The salami is just ok. Sometimes they add honey or fig jam, sometimes not. The bread here is great. The French onion soup!!! So comforting and flavorful. Steaks have been good here, but steak-frites isn't my fave combo personally. The cocktails here are amazing and they can make anything you want, with an extensive stock of niche liqueurs. Their set cocktail menu seems a little sugary and girly sometimes but they can make anything on it without the extra sugar and syrup. Get a Last Word! They also have Suze and put cherries in it for me 😍 Things I would skip would be the crusted brie thing that comes with hazelnuts, and the escargot, personally they didn't seem worth the pricetag for flavor. Personally. All the wait staff and Joe the bartender here are great, too. "Sous le ciel de Paris" will be playing on loop over the speakers. It's a vibe

Nothing but a great experience here. I left my mask in my car by accident which was parked a bit away, and the hostess was kind enough to give me a new one so I could enter without having to walk back to my car. Service was pleasant and professional. The food was amazing and brought out in a very timely manner. Drinks and wine were good too! Very affordable for an amazing experience and wonderful food.

Great meal - it always is at Avert and the new chef has made some great menu additions. Instead of the Croque Monsieur I tried the new Croque with lump crab meat and it was delicious. Terrific outdoor dining space which feels very safe and well spaced. Waitress was amazing and so friendly and attentive. Highly recommend Avert if you want to feel like you have been transported to a Parisian cafe. Excellent spot for lunch with a nice selection of options for all tastes on the menu.
