Unbelievable dinner - perfect service, atmosphere, and food. I felt like I was teleported to Kyoto with how impeccable the restaurant is, down to its size even!
The unagi meal was a dream, I love the 3 different ways you can enjoy the eel and everything that comes with it. Lovely sake pairing as well as recommended by one of the servers. The food is pricy but 1000% worth it!
Will dine again soon for sure!
Also the matcha creme Brulee was the perfect ending to the whole thing omg
The unagi here is undeniably good, with a familiar taste and texture. However, the overall experience doesn't quite justify the high prices. While it provides alternative ways to enjoy unagi, the rest of the menu seems relatively standard, lacking the wow factor that would make it worth the cost.
Best unagi in LA, Japan level. However, was a little overpriced but understandable given it is the only authentic specialized eel place. Good authentic unagi side dishes. Staff was a little stern.
Best and only unagi restaurant in LA area. The food was so good and very similar to unagi I had in Tokyo. For the appetizer I highly recommend the omaki. For the unagi dinner, we had the ohitsu in matsu size. The unagi was perfectly cooked and smelled so good. The service was excellent and waitress was friendly. Restaurant is located in the second floor with a small dining room and counter seating. They also serve sushi and other Japanese dishes. Free parking is located in the garage below the building. Had a wonderful experience here and was easy to make reservations on open table.
dineL.A. Experience: the 8-course menu was fun, but our favorite is still the classical steamed and broiled Unagi, so would be better off ordering from the menu. The pairing sake all came in different design of shot glasses, which was really cute. The unagi was imported from Japan and was smoother, compared to the frozen one we can get from the supermarket. The Japanese eggplants were very tasty. The mocha crème Brûlée was yummy even though I don’t like mocha usually. The place was small. But the waitress were very friendly.
Very authentic decent unagi set! Just like what I ate in tokyo. The set could provide you the different ways to eat the unagi. With rice, with wasabi, with the tea.
A very authentic Japanese restaurant specializing in unagi meals. This restaurant originated from the restaurant in Japan and offer Japan imported premium unagi. The taste is comparable to the one I had in Japan. It's a little bit pricey in terms of the amount of food but the taste is worth it.
The Unagi is spectacular. The most authentic Japanese experience I’ve had in LA.
A friend recommended Toku Unagi and Sushi and we were not disappointed. The staff was genuinely welcoming and the service was excellent. My wife had the Ohitsu Toku-Jo and I had the Ta-Ke. The Ta-Ke has a smaller portion than the Toku-Jo but I was satisfied when I finished. Be sure to ask the server how to eat the Unagi because they give you several ways to enjoy it. I recommend reservations because the restaurant has limited seating.
This place is a hidden gem. So good. Very traditional Japanese cuisine. This restaurant provides a celebration be of Unagi. If you like Japanese eel then you should try this place for sure. And the service and attention to detail are perfect. All the staff are Japanese too. Fantastic. I can't recommend it enough.
