It's a rathole of a small restaurant with an excellent staff that aim to please with a smile. It is kind of hidden but well worth the effort to find. It's crazy to think the place used to be a barge that was built during the Lincoln presidency (dang joint has history). BTW, the place has an odd lean which adds to the charm! Absolutely the best place anywhere. I loved this place so much I wrote a story about it. Atmosphere doesn't begin to describe it. Places like this make life worth living, I swear. Go there!
The absolute best whole belly clams!! Karaoke on Tuesday nights are awesome and the wait staff is great! Joanna is amazing and will do everything she can to make your meal enjoyable.

BLACK DUCK CAFE. A very fine pub style restaurant, with probably the nicest bar in a fifteen mile radius. Waterfront views from the bar make for a most pleasant spot to have a cold brew. And why not have a little snack too, like the excellent Buffalo Wings, or the truly superb Nachos with Cheese (could be the best Nachos anywhere). Overall, a very nice place. And they have live music on weekends, sometimes with really good bands. Recommended very highly, including by the French tourist authority. Not too suitable for bus tours because the parking lot has a rather narrow entrance, A short walk from the train station.
Get the small cobb. This is a winner salad/meal....$6....try it out and see...knock yourself out and get a cup of soup too and you will be in heaven!
Best Burger Ever. We visited the Black Duck after seeing it on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives on the Food Network. The Duck did not disappoint with the Black Duck Burger being, possibly, the best hamburger I've ever had!
Liked it!. It's described accurately enough by other reviewers. The food we had was very good though! I had the nachos with the works, and my wife had a salad with grilled chicken. Both were really good, and the other dishes I saw coming out (yep, I always snoop what's going by) looked really good as well. Prices were very good for what you got. It is a dive, but a fun dive! I give it an 8 out of 10. :)
Where the locals go. Ya, its the local hangout, down and dirty, but that is what is cool, good beer, greasy burgers, grumpy service, but you gotta luv the spot.
All I can say is make sure you have their blue cheese dip, never had one as good as theirs anywhere! Great food and company and some late night visiting.

2nd the building leans a little, you're not drunk yet LOL. It was actually funny as we thought we were losing it until other people said no worries it's a little tilted and was a funny conversation starter with strangers hehehe
We had the New England Clam Chowder which I found to be too thick to the point where it was like having fondue. But hubby loved it, anything with cream and cheese he loves lol
French Onion Soup would have been good if it wasn't so salty... It made all of our mouths pucker... We told the waitress and she just took it off our check.
Stuffed Clams were good! Usually it's just stuffing over the little clam meat, they took the clam meat and chopped it up and mixed it into the stuffing so each bite had clam yum!
Fish and Chips, the fish was light and moist, the chips were curly fries! Yay hehehe
Davy Jones Burger - is it a burger with lobster or a lobster roll with burger? Either way it was delicious!!! Hubby's cuz and I both ordered the burger ;) and both loved it.
They have a stuffed burger which has cheese inside the burger, but as I can't have dairy I didn't try it and the guys were on "diets" LOL
There is an enclosed outdoor patio you can eat from with a view of the water but it was just too hot and humid for us to be out there.
There are docks along the back were locals can just drive their boat right up and walk into the restaurant.
It was a fun experience, if ever in the CT area would definitely stop in again :)
Best burger in Fairfield County. Great service, fun atmosphere, beautiful view of the Saugatuck River. Only place I'll go between Fairfield and Greenwich.
Everything we ordered was incredible!! We kept meaning to take pictures of our food before eating it because it all looked so good but everything was so delicious we couldn't help ourselves and only took pics after!
We ordered the popcorn shrimp, potato taquitos, and wings as appetizers.
The popcorn shrimp was easily the best I've ever had. The potato taquito was also sooo good it was like a Mexican Blintz! Highly recommend!
I ordered the Lobster smothered burger it was great, and the fries and onion ring portions were huge and delicious!
a few weeks back on a Friday night, i visited the black duck café with some friends as i was told by some locals that it was a hometown must hit! Right when I came in it was fun and energetic atmosphere, we were directed to pick a table, and our server Julia was fantastic, knowledgeable, and friendly. We ordered around of beers on tap, and some apps. The nachos were greats, as were the wings. On the other hand we all got the pulled pork sandwiches for entrees. Which left some to desired. overall a very good experience kudos to Julia!
Food was great and the service was excellent. They're stuffed burger was amazing cheese oozing out amazing. The lobster Ruben was just crazy and the double stuffed lobster roll was heaven on a plate. That's why it was on Guy's Triple D. (Full covid 19 protocol in place felt very safe)
This place is nice. They have a good location, by the water. We ordered burgers, and it was delicious.
