The food, service, and ambience are fantastic. I had some of the best calamari at Ivy. My banana crusted whitefish was perfect. The desserts are exceptional...if you have room after your meal. My apple pecan caramel bread pudding was to die for. Food is presented artistically but it did not detract from the taste. We had a party of 11 for mom's 80th. They surprised her with a complementary creme brulee dessert. Our server, Erin, was very attentive and helpful with the menu. By the way, we loved the lighted menus, making it easy to read! Our appetizers, entrees, and desserts all came out in a timely manner. The stained glass windows and vaulted ceilings are beautiful, making for an elegant atmosphere, yet, you have a casual feel to the place too. No need to be dressy, just be yourself. Good wine, beer, and drink selection. Free multilevel garage parking right behind the restaurant (5 min walk) or valet up front. Lastly, the owner, Dick O'Gorman visits every table to make sure you are satisfied with your dining experience. Highly recommended for any occasion.
Wonderful historic setting combined with excellent service plus great food makes 'Ivy' a must for lunch or dinner. Our lunch experience was nothing short of fantastic. Will be back for dinner with special friends and family members. Can't wait for spring 2018 to enjoy the outdoor seating area! Definitely worth the drive from Lake County Illinois.
Our first time ! Our server , Micheal and the staff who assisted serving us were the best !
Your food is creative, original turns on even some traditional things and most importantly, it tasted great !
The décor, the back story, the atmosphere days that you guys got it right !
We will be back and bring friends with us !
Went for Valentines Day Dinner. Tried their Gorgonzola crusted lamb chops. Super good! Along with the Calamari & Parmesan salmon- everything was exceptional. Mike was our server and he was excellent! very knowledgeable and friendly. If/when we return we will request him and i recommend you do the same.
The sous vide skirt steak and sous vide pork chop are excellent!! ... if you have never had meat cooked sous vide style, give it a try, it is fabulous!!!
Highly recommend Ivy!! ... one of our favorite restaurants!!
Perfect lunch outside for my Birthday! Even though it was hot, the whole patio is very comfortable, beautiful (Ivy and flowers), and draped for shade. The seared Tuna app and the summer pasta (cold with pine nuts) soooooo delicious! The new Kettle botanicals drinks (we tried all 3) are delicious and refreshing. Our waiter Chris was AWESOME and so attentive. Never dissapointed with this place. Love and will keep coming back :)
Celebrated our 28th anniversary at Ivy last night. It was amazing! Atmosphere, staff & the food!!!! We can’t say enough about Ivy! Can’t wait to go back! We loved it!!! 5 for 5!
I had a great experience here. The owner was great and very friendly. Built and igloo outside and offered Sambuca took pics. Our waitress was great very friendly. Food was delicious. I will definitely be back!
Owner was hands on and came to our table with a smile and quick wit. The food was absolutely fantastic, the service was top notch and Kaitlyn (sp?) was a terrific server.
My favorite place to go at Christmas time! Always so beautifully decorated for the holidays, delicious food, wine, and desserts, and consistently good service. I love sitting near the fireplace in winter, and the little sunroom off the main dining room is delightful in all seasons. There is also a nicely appointed upstairs room with a private bar overlooking the street, very nice for holding a small party or reception, as well as a cozy bar on the main floor for meeting up with friends. Also some great live music from time to time!
Love eating outside as a family on the weekend. Service is always friendly, even with 2 toddlers in tow. Balloon lady came and entertained with a flower wand. Food is fresh and delicious. Head chef walked around to ensure everything was satisfactory. Will be back again!!!
There are many great things I can say about this restaurant. I actually chose this restaurant as a surprise location for my girlfriend and I to dine at. I saw this restaurant online and its description of "a restaurant that used to be a Catholic chapel." This sounded too good to pass up on. As we entered it definitely was well above my expectations and looking at my girlfriend, she was in awe of the beautiful restaurant (as was I). A very romantic and upscale setting, our waiter was very nice and patient. The food was fairly portioned and we both enjoyed our meals. We would definitely recommend this place for anniversaries and special events, or even if you want to check out a cool and unique restaurant. It's definitely worth checking out just for the setting alone. You won't be disappointed :)
This is an awesome place to go to. I came by myself, and my host Tracy was so sweet, and then the owner Richard talked to me for a bit Bout the history of the building. The food ND drinks were incredible. I'll be back in September and planning on coming back xoxo pizza box girl :)
Enjoyed a quiet afternoon in the bar of this classy and historic location. 7 beer taps representing a nice variety of styles, one was international.
The truffle burger was superb, with good quality grind and cooked just how requested.
The squash ravioli was delicious, rich, with a creamy sauce and bursting with flavour.
It was a quiet afternoon, but we were very well taken care of by the attentive staff and will definitely be returning soon.
There's a definite eerie charm to the surroundings and the stained glass with religious elements make it a unique outing.
We had a family dinner at the Ivy for a party of over 20 people. They were able to accommodate us without having to book a separate room or to do an event and limited menu, with 48 hours notice, which was a plus. My grandmother was able to have the family dinner she wanted for her birthday.
The menus are very nice, as they are lit and make for easier reading. The selections were nice, and everything was reasonably priced. The restaurant has a very unique esthetic, which added to the experience.
Our party had a combination of items from the menu, including crab cakes, lamb chops, pasta, and, of course, the ribeye steak. Everyone was pleased with their selections' taste and portion size.
Lastly, their service was top tier. The staff took great care of our party, even including the kids. We were able to have a beautiful group photo to end the night. We will certainly be back, just as a smaller party to have a more intimate meal. I highly recommend giving Ivy a try. You won't be disappointed!
My absolute favorite spot in downtown Wheaton! The food is incredible! I highly recommend the lamb paired with a red wine of your choosing. For dessert you can’t go wrong with an espresso martini paired with a moist and flavorful slice of carrot cake! Staff are always very kind and attentive. Thank you guys for a memorable evening of delicious food, excellent service and relaxing ambience.
Beautiful restaurant in the heart of downtown Wheaton. Nice food and service. The warm bread with house honey butter was exceptional!
Excellent food and service!
The atmosphere was perfect for our dinner party. It has a rich feeling that is both romantic but also historic, the building is an old church and it has real Ivy on the outside.
The food was delicious. Multiple people at our table had the filet, it was very tasty. I had the Prime Rib, it was cooked perfectly and had a very tasty side of mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus.
Their service was excellent. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and on top of it. They did a great job paying attention to the food allergy at our table and even helped with suggesting alternatives for the apps. The bus’s boys cleared the table without being noticed and kept our area clean.
This place is 5/5!
The is so nice and Beautiful place and the food is so Delicious too...Perfect place for any occasion...🥰🥰
I recently attended an event called Ivy’s Tour de France. A 5 course meal served with 5 different French wines. Each wine was presented by their wine distributer who is actually from France and Ivy’s head chef presented each dish. To say this was fantastic is an understatement. Had a blast and will definitely attend more events like this in the future.
We recently dined at Ivy. The food was exceptional. The environment was cozy and inviting. Hilary, the manager, gave us a warm welcome and the staff was very attentive making it a truly memorable dining experience. Highly recommend!
Everything was fantastic! Our server was knowledgeable and attentive. We had the shrimp and watermelon starter, my partner got the surfboard tomahawk steak, which was huge, I got the special seabass, which was to die for! We also got the key lime brulee, which was very tasty as well.
I was surprised how casual most people were dressed, and kids were dining.
The Lobster roll and Truffle burger were great. The service was great. But when ANY place charges me almost 3% to use my credit card…..I WILL NOT RETURN. That is a cost of doing business. My husband and I are very generous tippers (20-25%) and adding a charge for credit card usage is just wrong. Enough!! I loved you food and service but won’t be back due to the ticky-tack charge.
Food was okay but my fiance ordered the jambalaya. Which the server didn't informed us that it was super spicy. The menu it self didn't indicate that either. I reserve my time online and reconfirmed the following day and ask for a food seat.. they informed me that anywhere we sit there will be great views. Which sure that was true but could of placed us by the fireplace seating, but they did not. A great touch to our dinner was when the server after dinner provided us with a free Crème brûlée and wished us a great anniversary.
Seated under the tent in a comfy booth in the middle of Hale street, we had lunch at Ivy. All the staff were so nice and we got two visits from the owner to make sure everything was satisfactory. I had the shrimp and watermelon salad with arugula and feta while my friend devoured the Cajun chicken pasta. The bread was warm and crusty with a sweeter flavored butter to get us started. I washed this special meal down with a perfectly madeMoscow Mule. What a superb lunch!!
Ivy Restaurant delivered outstanding service (our waiter gave us amazing service - cheerful, helpful, informative- and we never felt rushed even though we spent almost two hours there), amazing treatment of their customers (the owner came by to speak with each table and made sure we were both comfortable and enjoying our food) a comfortable environment (on a cold evening they had heaters that were blowing warm air in their outdoor seating area which made it so comfortable to the point where we even took off our coats and sweaters), and honestly one of the best meals I've had!
My friend and I both ordered the fish special which came with a citrus butter sauce which was heavenly, and we both had an amazing jambalaya before the meal. We both ordered a slice of the strawberry cheesecake, which had a cinnamon graham cracker crust that came from the chef's grandmother's recipe and was honestly the best cheesecake I've ever had!
The food was delicious!! The space has some history which is fun but overall not our favorite atmosphere. Lighting was dim and space was a little cold. It was an older crowd. This is the most people that we have seen not wearing masks - January 2022
