Stopped in town for the night on my road trip to Las Vegas and thank you Zomato for such a great find. Good German food. I had the schnitzel & spatzle which was excellent. Service was great and they have a good selection of German beers on tap.
Great food great staff, I've been several times and every time is really good. Definitely a favorite of mine in town. They never disappoint .
local very large serving German cuisine. variety is not very great but the food is good. prices are a little over the media, and the staff is friendly and helpful.
I LOVE this place. I've been to Germany a few times. To me their food is spot on to how a snitzel tastes over there. I've had the jagersnitzel and rahmsnitzel, both are awesome. The bratkartoffel (pan fried potatoes) and spatzel noodles are perfect with them. The interior is nice, and the staff are friendly.
Love it! Wonderful atmosphere fantastic service and the food is excellent. Be sure to try the pretzels. Meatloaf was excellent. As were the worst.
Authentic portions are great! Sweet brown mustard great. Strudel fantastic uses fresh strawberries .ordered platter for 2 and it fed 3 people. Sauerkraut is great. Sausage choices include bratwurst, mettwurst, weisswurst and cheesesausage
Our waitress (Katie M) was awesome. The food came out quickly. Overall, the food was good. However, there wasn't anything distinct or authentic my meal except for the salad and sausage appetizer.
A WORD FROM OPA. I've NOTICED THAT WE HAVE BEEN GETTING SOME NEGITIVE REVIEWS LATELY THAT ARE QUITE UPSETTING NOT ONLY TO MYSELF, BUT ALSO MY FAMILY and STAFF ! First off, all our food is prepared fresh daily. Our prices are a lot cheaper than some of our neighbors, considering the amount of food we serve ! Our beer and wine Bar is open the same hours as OPA'S. The restaurant is staffed by my daughters JESS and JENN, my wife RITA, all of whom are GERMAN born, my son in laws DAVE and STEVE and myself OPA. My staff are well trained to be friendly, helpful and courteous, and if not should be brought to Mgrs attention. We have never gotten less than a 94% on our health inspections as we work very hard, 12-14 hours a day to bring the best to our customers . We serve the same food at home as we serve at OPAS and it's hard to under stand how 17% feel its not worth it and 87% have enjoyed the food, the beer and the atmosphere!! I invite the readers who come to OPAS to feel free to inspect any phase of the operation from preparing the food to the cooking and serving it. Although my family is against it, I will say any way that those who so rudely speak so bad about OPAS have not the courage to bring it personally to my attention ! To the rest of you I thank you for your business and look forward to serving you again ! GOD BLESS AMERICA
Awesome, family, friendly, caring, loving, Are just some of the words I would use to describe this place. Very family friendly, the owner is one awesome guy, went on a date last night got there at 9:30 sat down and noticed they close at 10:00 the owner and his daughter where very nice bout us being there late, we ended up leaving around 11:30 we didn't mean to stay that late, we just simply lost track of time while we where talking. The food is awesome too, being part German this place makes me feel right at home. Thanks Opa.
My Schnitzel sandwich was quite tasty though a bit too much bread for my pallet. The four of us opted for German Potato Salad in place of fries (Don't do it if you like great GPS - it's not here). Go to the Weiner Schnitzel or somewhere else. A German Shepherd wouldn't eat that potato salad.
I usually dont leave reviews but seeing some of the negative I had to. First of I want to say that I was born and raised in Germany so u can call me a full blooded german im very ify about german restaurants but I have to say this one exceeded my expectations we were there sat I had a Döner ive been craving for 5 years and my husband had schwenkbraten and I have to say it tasted juat like at home our waitress was amazing and told us that she cooks everything from scratch which is hard because u cant get some of the seasonings here thumbs up we will be back for sure
LOVED the food great family restaurant friendly staff reasonable prices we will defiantly be back best place outside the home land
Great authentic German food. Family run, lovely atmosphere, one of the few things I look forward to when I'm in Wichita Falls.
AMAZING!!!!. This place absolutely blew my mind! Next to going to Germany, I don't think you will find a better experience, the food was amazing, Great portions, the taste, to die for, and to top it off, my waitress, Jennifer was the best. I only wished that I encountered the type of service i got from her with other places I eat at. Can't pronounce the beer, but it was better than any I've had in a while, you would be a fool to pass this place up when your in Wichita Falls!
Very good schnitzel and fried potatoes. Good selection of Germany wines.
The schnitzel is the best you'll find! The whole atmosphere of the restaurant feels like your in a little cozy town in Germany.
Fabulous!!!! Will be back and often!!
Thoroughly enjoyed the food and atmosphere here. Waitress was nice but rather annoying and took over 5 minutes to refill my drink while we were the only patrons in the restaurant (due to the time of day we were there). The food definitely made up for the wait staff. Just delicious. We will definitely return.
Very good food. Best German food I've had in the states. The frikadelle and the kaesepaetzle were great. Our waitress was great.
I love the European options in the middle of Texas. Great variety of German food with big Beers and a nice wine selection.
Love the Cheesesteak. Good food, friendly waitstaff, and large portions. The salad that comes with the meals is traditional German: shredded carrots, onions, tomatoes, all topped with a yummy yogurt dressing. Try the German cheesesteak sandwich, you will not be disappointed!
Oh My Wow!. Opas will never ever disappoint. I went there never having had German Food before, and my Waitress Jessica M, went through ever single item with me. I decided on her favorite, the Jaeger Schnitzle platter with the Kaesespaetlzle, and it was amazing. She also suggested a Dunk dark wheat beer to go with it. It was an amazing combination! The salad was divine, but I didn't really care for the iceberg lettuce, and would have liked romane instead.
Jessica told me they use it in the caeser salads, but it was too late, and it was all right. The schnitzle itself was juicy and crunchy, and the sauce was to die for! Give the cooks a raise, because those boys know how too cook.
I ordered the apricot strudle with icecream and about had a heartattack with how good it was.
Bravo, Opa's! You buy far, have the best food in Wichita Falls by far, and the best, and most patient waitresses.
Great Food!. Ordered the Doner Kabob at the suggestion of the waitress and was not disappointed. Delicious sandwich with fresh baked bun. Would eat there again if through Wichita Falls.
Great taste. Good service. You need to try this place for for something a little different than normal WF fare.
I heard great things about Opas Schnitzel Haus and I am pleased to report that my wife and I were not disappointed. In fact we were very surprised and highly satisfied. I had the metteurst and my wife had the bratwurst. They were quite delicious. The strudel was out of this world. Will be back for the snitzel!!!
I lived in Germany for years, so I was pretty happy to find German food in Wichita Falls. Although it is a little bit Americanized, it's still pretty good and the only place you can get a Turkish Doner Kabab.
Outstanding!. The interior is simple and quaint but very inviting. The food is fabulous: have had the meatloaf with the brown sauce and the red sauce and both are to die for. Also had the goulash and it is awesome! The service is always impeccable and I highly reccomend this WF gem!
Worth the trip. The cordon blue and speatzle was fantastic. Quick service, reasonable prices. Jess was very good. Dessert (strawberry strudel) was great. Wish they had one in San Antonio.
Very good DoenerKebab. Honestly much better then I expected from a small town like wichita falls. The potato salad is great too.
This place is amazing!! The food is delicious. The prices for lunch are ok but its a little pricey for dinner.. For lunch i spent $9 and for dinner it was $17 for almost the same meal.. I will go back as much as i can!!
Never been one for German food. I went with my husband and mom b/c they like it. I have to say it was awesome! I didn't want to stop eating, servings are a good size for price. Highly recomended
Probably THE best German food between here and Ft Worth. Maybe even better than the restaurants there!
The pastry was perfectly flaky and broke under my spoon. The raspberry cream cheese was tasty and rich. The strudel was split between the two of us who where stuffed but ordered dessert just to say we did. And by the end we where fighting a duel with raspberry cream cheese covered spoons over the last bite!
Today we stop by Opa's Schnitzel Haus to pick up Schnitzel for our curry and I will have to say that it did not disappoint!!
I find that schnitzel is the next best thing to use if you need a cutlet for your curry 🍛!
While we waited I had a glass of sweet Moscato and my husband had a 🍺 beer.
Can't wait to stop in again for a dine in experience!
Thanks!
First impressions are everything to a customer. 5 stars to Opa's Schnitzel Haus for 1st impressions. The waiter was awesome with service and suggestions. Food and beer 5 star aswell. I never tasted a more clean quality German dish then Opa's. Price is fair and well worth it. Atmosphere made me feel like I was dining in Germany. Kid meals and coloring is great for families.
I had the Schnitzel cordon bleu, my hubby had the Holsteiner-Schnitzel. Which he loves so much he was cutting before I could get a picture. What you HAVE TO TRY is the appetizer, Currywurst. It's so good I couldn't get a pick of it we devoured it so quickly. Service is very friendly. Opa himself is a sweetheart who will talk your ear off. $$ is right where it should be for the foor and service. Oh.. and get a beer! Try something new!
Food was great! It tasted like a genuine home-cooked meal, nothing fancy but overall satisfying. The owner was very kind. The husband loved the beer. I ate the ruben which was amaaazing. Husband got a little bit of everything from the menu and enjoyed all of it. Would definitely go back if we're ever that way again.
Absolutely delicious! Was really craving German food and they did not disappoint. They waitress was a sweetheart as well. We will definitely be coming back. It was worth the 40 minute drive!!
Food was pretty good and authentic. Waiter was great. Prices weren't too terrible.
Our daughters took their dad here for a surprise birthday lunch while we were visiting on vacation. Beeing originally from Germany, he loved the atmosphere, food and talking with the owner. Our grandson had worked here for a short while and recommend it for his paw paw's birthday.
