I first discovered this place several years ago when in town for work. I stopped in before my return home to get carryout food. Not only was the food out of this world good, but I really enjoyed talking to the owner about my love for the Caribbean, its people and the food. His conversation made the experience 5 star. Whenever going out of town and passing by Winchester on our return we stop here. The food is truly authentic, it's as if you're in the Caribbean, only missing the sea and sand. Their fall off the bone jerk chicken has some serious kick to it, but I always cool my tongue with their slaw and/or plantains. We LOVE the patties! They are delicious and also pack a bit of heat. I've only seen the owner on my first visit. The other times, service was alright, but definitely nowhere near as friendly and as welcoming as the initial visit.
Great food and people! I stop in almost every morning to say hello and grab a water. The food is the bomb and super healthy. Ask Angel for her turmeric and ginger drink. It will cure all and paired with curried chicken and veggies, yummy! The best place in town!
First time my wife and I went. The food was excellent. We got the stewed chicken and curry chicken. The beans and rice and the cabbage were on point. I got some Blue Mountain Coffee and Jen got the Negril Sunset, which she enjoyed and was very sweet. We ended with the lemon cake which was also very good.
Angel was very hospitable and Lloyd never stopped working. Definitely going again.
One of the best meals I have ever had, and friendly staff (even when I froze up and couldn't do tip math at the counter ).
My wife and I spent 10 years in Haiti and made many trips to Jamaica, enjoying the people, food and coffee. It was a surprise to find, via Yelp, a place serving this cuisine in Winchester. But, Winchester is full of culinary surprises.
So the offerings are delicious (we had curry goat and jerk chicken) and there are drinks to go along with the meal.
Even the low key location adds to the overall effect. Finished up with tropical ice cream and grabbed a couple of ginger beers to take home.
If we lived nearby we'd be there weekly.
Go enjoy it yourself!
The best Jamaican food in Virginia ! And the company is even better ! Always a kind soul to trade vibes with !
I go here every couple weeks, & I LOVE IT! I love the place (decor, different types of seating, even books!) I love Angel; she is too sweet & I am always happy to see her! Lloyd is such a sweet owner & it's nice to get a greeting when he's in the place. The food is hot (temperature or spicy,) delicious & QUICK! I would recommend anyone to go here, even younger kids. They have lighter food & American food too. I always go for the $5.50 (big portion) lunch special *stewed chicken* The Caribbean jerk lunch special is SO good too, but my lips can't handle the spice haha I honestly could go on & on. Love y'all!
The jerk shrimp was AMAZING - spices and seasoning were to die for. Reminded me of my visit to Jamaica, completely authentic! Would highly recommend!
