My son loves gyros, when we saw Charlie's we were a little hesitant to try it. Saw on Yelp they had a 4 star review so we decided it should be good. Originally we were going to do take out but decided to sit and relax before the road trip home. The 3 of us ordered gyros and fries. TOTALLY DELICIOUS! The fries were surprisingly awesome and I could have made a meal on those alone! The gyros were also super good. I grew up in Upstate NY, where foods were always authentic and amazing... there was a family owned Greek restaurant... I loved the gyros and as soon as I tasted these... flashbacks of goodness came rushing into my mouth. I will certainly come back here next time. I thought the customer service was very pleasant. The owner/waiter saw that my daughter might not have cared much for the soup and offered to give her fries instead. He took great care of us and was genuinely interested in knowing if we enjoyed our food. We really did. The meat tasted really good and rich with flavor.

Was surprised the place is so empty. The waitress was friendly and helpful if you initiate the conversation. Definitely recommend it!
This place was amazing! Best Gyros we've had in a long time! You have to try it "New Wave"... It's hard to pin it down and accurately describe but if you love Gyros, then you've likely never had a Gyro like this before. Trust me... Just try it once and you'll be sold. Really amazing flavor with the olive tapanade. Morgan was a sweetheart! She's the bartender/waitress so attentive, funny, and friendly! She was really great and made the experience even better! Got to meet the owner too at the end... What a very friendly guy! Give these guys a chance, you won't be disappointed!
I visited this place during it's opening week. It's a bit of awesome in Winter Park. I happened upon Opa Charlie's accidentally because the business was that new! I love finding restaurant gems whilst traveling.
All of the flavors were utterly delicious. From the fries to the soup to the lamb burger - the spices and preparation made for a darn fine meal. The presentation was superb.
The staff were smiley and talkative. Service was spectacular. The menu extensive. The atmosphere colorful.
I see this business providing delicious food to tourists and locals for many years to come. I highly recommend stopping by for a delicious meal. You'll be glad you did.
Five stars for my lunch today:
Traditional Gyro and awesome seasoned fries.
1. Choice of bar. Inside tables or patio tables for seating. They are pet friendly on the Patio - nice to know I can bring my beagle with me for a quickie on the patio after running around. I even heard my server & bartender offer a bowl for water for 1 guest’s dog.
2. The do everything front manager greeted everyone who came in the door with a smile and welcome.
3. See 2 above: She, Morgan, pours a perfectly mixed cocktail.
4. My food was wonderful. Charlie made that Gyro irresistible. The gyro was big - I thought sure I’d have take home..nope I ate it all. Filling but not heavy.
5. My first visit makes me plan on making this a regular stop.

Large, no super large portions. I suspect they are like any resort town and expect people to split plates so the price might seem high, but you really get alot on your plate. They let us dine on their patio with our dogs even though i suspect the waitress may have been uncomfortable...she shared a childhood story of a dog bite with us. Appreciate that she was personable, responsive and showed a love for her town. Will return for sure.
Went here for lunch with a group of 6 and I have to say the food was very good. I'm not giving 5 stars simply for the service. Let me explain, there appeared to be one person cooking and one person doing everything else. The one not cooking was simply over worked. She was extremely nice and working hard (no doubt). The cook was over worked too. It took us 45 -60 minutes to get our food. I would probably go back because the food was quite good.
I am in love with the food here. So far I haven't experienced a terrible dish yet, and the staff is amazing. They are always kind and thoughtful when answering questions about the menu. If your on the fence but love Greek food, you have to make this a go to place.
My buddy and I stopped in here for a quick lunch, and boy were we impressed. Regarding the previous reviews, yes, it's pricey by non-resort town standards, but is on par with other eateries here (yes, we've tried nearly everything in Fraser and WP), but in exchange you get an excellent, large, and well-seasoned gyro, with nice tender steak that is perfectly crisped/charred around the edges, and delicious and generously portioned fries. Try the "New Wave" gyro -- friggin' dee-lish. We're from Denver and have eaten at many Greek restaurants there, and this is a damn good gyro. There weren't many other customers because it is a couple of weeks ago during mud season (slowest part of the year in these parts), and chatted away with the owner, whom we found personable, knowledgeable, and proud of his establishment and excellent grub -- and rightfully so. Give this place a chance and give this guy a break. You won't be disappointed if it's anything remotely like our experience.
Food was amazing! Got the falafel gyro, the lamb gyro and fries with both and all were delicious. Nice to see something different in the area other than pizza. Staff was very friendly too. 😁
I had great service from Brittany today. My food was exactly as I ordered and was delicious. The homemade tzaziki was on point and the spicy aioli was great on my gyro and to dip my Greek fries in. The menu was easy to read and understand. Descriptions were spot on, everything is ala carte which was great because I hate wasting food. Also has menu items that ease you into Greek food, if you aren't familiar. The carnitas was juicy and tender and fries were large and filling.
If you are in the Winter Park area, this is the place to go for Gyros. The gyros are always fresh and hot, and the fries are very well seasoned. The portions are perfect, you won't leave hungry or disappointed! I wish they would open a restaurant is Granby.
I was unsure what to expect when we first walked in. Many restaurants in the valley are subpar or the service is terrible. However, this place can only be described as absolutely amazing.
The food came out almost immediately. Considering we were starving this was a huge plus.
The food was hot, fresh, and delicious.
I'd recommend this to any hungry tourists passing through.
Favorite food in winter park!! They have great gyros, get it made the new wave style. The staff is always very helpful and friendly. We love coming here.
