Had a wonderful dinner with the family. This is our favorite hidden gem. The food is always cooked to order and prepared fresh. It’s a BYOB which is always a plus. There’s even a liquor store across the street! I had my favorite go to dish, Chicken Alia. Sautéed tender pieces of chicken with sautéed baby spinach, tomatoes, capers and black Kalamata olives in a white wine reduction served over saffron rice. Delicious! Bring a bottle and the owner Said (Sayeed) will pull up a chair He’s a great storyteller and very accommodating.
It’s our hidden gem. You won’t be disappointed

Alia is a dream for diners who love to discover a neighborhood gem that foodies will also adore. The Italian/Mediterranean menu offers creative twists on familiar dishes, as well as perfectly prepared traditional favorites. Ask the owner, Said -- who is as caring, delightful and charming as they come, and his conversation is reason enough to go -- for his signature Magic Chicken. It's a robust festival of flavors, featuring chicken and eggplant Parmesan. Not sure what you'd like? Said will make you something special. He loves a challenge! The portions at Alia are generous, the prices are reasonable, and the service is personable, so bring your appetite (and a bottle of wine, for it's BYOB, but there's a liquor store a minute's walk away) and prepare for a marvelous evening.

I absolutely love this restaurant! The owner is passionate about food and making sure you have the best experience possible. The food is amazing and it's BYOB with a liquor store right next door which is a great perk. I 100% recommend this restaurant.

I asked proprietor/chef Said to produce a Moroccan dinner of his choosing, for 25 people, which he did, of tender kabobs, succulent chicken in a lovely spiced broth, plus burgers loaded with goodies, and fresh vegetables also seasoned beautifully. We picked everything up at the restaurant piping hot. My guests couldn't get enough! Thank you so much, Said, for making our gathering an utter success! (and no clean-up!) I also must mention that Said is a delight to meet and get to know a bit. A huge thank-you!

What a charming restaurant Alia is! It is a cozy spot with low lighting and has a very homey atmosphere. The owner, Said, was so welcoming. But best of all the food was magnificent. We couldn’t have hoped for a better meal. It was outstanding, from the warm rolls that came straight from the oven to our table, to the main dishes which melted in our mouth. If you are in Winthrop, don’t miss stopping here for a very reasonably priced and enjoyable meal. Just remember to BYOB. We will be back again!

Quiet little place with an Italian Mediterranean flare! Italian dishes are all delicious and huge portions. Spicy Mediterranean style mussels for appetizer is a must. Try the Mediterranean chicken over saffron rice yum! It's a bring your own booze place and liquor store is steps away.

A Bad Day @ Alia. Meal started out with a tastless Caesar Salad. Also ordered Calamari Salad but it never came and the waitress said I never ordered it! Waitress asked me if I liked ricotta cheese and when I said yes she said she would have the kitchen put some between and eggplant and veal parmesan. I thought that was a nice gesture. Was charged an addiiional $4.25 and was never told that it would be an extra charge. She said I never asked!! WHAT!! My husband ordered the Ossobucco which was a lamb shank, not ossobucco! Also an additonal charge of $4 for rice instead of couscous. My pasta was mushy and the red sauce tasted like Chef Boyardee spaghetti-o's straight from the can. (Remember those when you were a kid?) The waitress then gave us someone else's check by mistake. Very disappointing meal and felt completely ripped off. Would never, never recommend. Sorry to have to write this because the restaurant had been recommended.

Charming Spot. This BYOB Italian spot in the lovely Crystal Cove section of Winthrop is cozy and warm all on its own, and the energetic and friendly proprietor add to its charm. Expect to find all the usual 'Italian-American' favorites like Veal/Chicken parm, ziti with chicken and broccoli, and so on. Easily reached by public transportation from Orient Heights - the Point Shirley bus goes right by, or just walk a short distance from the Winthrop Beach drop-off point.

Read good things about it. Great service. Proprieter made my Mom a special dish with the special. I had a light veal saltimboca. Good quality Italian with an excellent atmosphere and excellent deserts.

Hidden Gem.... a must visit!. It is with great pleasure that I write this review for Alia Ristorante. Not only do I love every dish on the menu, but I love the staff as well. Alia, much like owner Said, is warm and welcoming and always a delight!

They don't serve alcohol - but don't worry, Alia allows you to bring your own. I usually bring a couple bottles of wine, and a couple great friends.... and I always have a fantastic meal!

Best Italian food around-north end restaurants included. Will also make you things not on the menu, like a delicios Moroccan cous cous dish. Best service too. Don't bother with the other Italian places in town!

Best Italian food in Winthrop. The chicken parmigiana is fantastic. You can even bring your own wine. Great value. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Turn on your GPS and FIND this family owned hideaway! A bit out of the way, but only a block from the beach, Alia "stay as long as you want" policy is a great way to slow things down and enjoy the food and present company. Unassumming, romantic and Morocc
