HIDDEN BBQ GEM!!! Incredible food and affordable prices. We ordered the bbq plates each as you can choose one to three meats, two sides, and a cornbread. I had corn and bacon salad, mashed potatoes, shredded bbq chicken, chilli, and burnt ends of brisket. I’ve also tried creamy corn, ribs, and the Texas brisket. Everything was cooked to perfection. To be honest one of the best restaurants I’ve been in the Boston area. Worth the drive if you’re staying closer to the city.

What a great find, The atmosphere is fun and casual. The food is very good. We had a sampling of fried pickles, 2 ribs and 2 pieces of fried chicken thighs.

Used to go here regularly but the quality is pretty inconsistent so we stopped rolling the dice. Sometimes the ribs are incredible 10/10 (falling off the bone, tender, well seasoned, fresh) and sometimes they are inedible 3/10 (underdone, tough, dry, old). Never knew which it would be, just have to hope you picked a good night. I think if they invested in a good reliable cook they would be solid.

Blackstrap BBQ is a neighborhood staple especially when it comes to their Sunday brunch mimosa flight's! The vibe here is so fun I love sitting at the bar, jamming out to some live music, and enjoying my favorite (sweet potato fries with pulled BBQ chicken on top and cheese). Oh and did I mention their mimosa's?
I have coordinated many event's with Kate and she always goes above and beyond to accommodate. I run a local women's networking group and we frequently host events here and order from their Tasty Plates menu! Not only is the food delicious but the menu is affordable and they always have such an amazing setup ready for us when we arrive.
I highly recommend visiting them or bringing in their catering services for any upcoming events you may have!

Small town BBQ in the old center of Winthrop, was delicious, had a great atmosphere great to see them expanding in this current era. It seems like a little hole-in-the-wall at first BUT that's how you know it's going to be good. 👍

We went to Blackstap with a group of 4 on Saturday without a reservation. We ended up only being able to sit outside, and that was fine, but we probably would have had a better time inside. We had two servers. I think one was the manger. Both were super attentive and accommodating. I had fried pickles, pulled pork, green beans, and coleslaw. All of it was delicious except I thought the pork had a little too much vinager.
We love Winthrop and I'm happy they have a great restaurant we can visit. I'd suggest making a reservation particularly if it's a busy weekend night.

If you’re from out of town, skip this place. The server was actively rude, she seemed bothered by our presence. We were there a while before we were asked about our drink order. We had one drink (finally) and left. Viking Pub is a much better option, you don’t feel like you’re an inconvenience there.

If you like barbecue this is the place to go! I’ve been coming here once a month for several months now and plan on doing the same in the future. I always have the onion rings and a few pints of the local craft IPA while grabbing some food to go for my wife. She loves everything on the menu but her favorite by far is the crispy pork, ginger scallion lo mein. They also have a full bar for mixed drinks. There’s plenty of street parking as well as a small municipal parking area right across the street. I’ve never had a problem finding parking. Just a reminder that they only accept cash.
