Whether you have a large group or you are dining solo, Uncle Julio’s is a great place to unwind in a casual atmosphere. The staff is friendly and attentive. The food is first class and the portions are huge. The free chips and salsa are wonderful; however, I recommend getting the table side guacamole. It’s second to none. The drink menu is extensive and you will be thrilled with their margarita offerings. So good! I highly recommend Uncle Julio’s.

What a change on the menu within a few days of dining in. Rice and beans no longer come with the fajitas, rice has changed. Kids' menu on a bento box. The AC wasn't working and super slow service! Just like the one in Fairfax on a Tuesday night. But our server was accommodating. After 14 years of coming to Uncle Julio's religiously, we've come to know all the staff st different locations and have seen all the changes, including the interiors. But there has been a decline overall. We will no longer be patrons here.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Uncle Julio's at Stonebridge in Woodbridge, Va, and boy, was it a delightful experience. Meeting up with a friend there, We caught up over a drink. Being a fan of Mexican tequila, I decided to go for the mezcal option, as its smoky flavor adds an extra level of enjoyment. I opted for their Perfect Paloma, and let me tell you, it was pure perfection! The combination of flavors was spot-on, leaving me eager for another round. Trust me, you won't regret ordering one yourself.

We were here with 6 people. Took a while to get seated, food was good as usual. 😁👍🏼

Don Julio's food quality and taste is superb. The service is top notch. The atmosphere is as you would expect of a quality restaurant during busy hours. Drinks are well mixed and flavorful.
Interactions with staff and managers are positive. Our server on 2/24/2023, Brian and his trainee Jaye (sp?), was attentive but not overwhelming and took care of our every need during our visit. The food, fajitas and tacos, was exquisite. The steak meat was tender and juicy and the accompaniments, hot or cold were freshly made. So much more to say about Uncle Julio's but the experience was just one to savor and enjoy.

Fabulous experience except for the 30min wait as we didn't book ahead. Staff were very friendly, food was really good. Will come back again.

We went for the first time last night and will definitely be back when we are in the area. There was a 5 minute wait for a table, but they were really busy. The service was amazing. Our order was taken promptly after our drinks were served. We never had to ask to have our waters refilled. The waiter was attentive! The quality and portion of food was better than anticipated. The bathrooms were really clean, especially for it being a busy Friday night. The restaurant was a little loud from the hustle and bustle of the waitstaff and the conversations of other patrons.

The meal was ok, but what I ordered off the menu was no longer available so they made a substitution without asking me first. I wouldn't have ordered what was brought out, it tasted fine, but I would have ordered something else if given the choice. My drink was great!

Our middle of the day lunch was perfect. No crowds, same delicious food but without the wait or dinner crowds. Our waiter was training a newbie and he didn't miss a beat! He was attentive and took his time taking our orders. We will be back sooner than later.

Had a great dinner with my husband! We got the barbacoa fajitas and carnitas fajitas. Both delicious. And our server Jose was very attentive and nice. We will return!

Very attentive hosts and serving staff. Delicious food. The house salsa is Smokey and delightful. Stay away from the chips because they are so good you will fill up on them. The chocolate pinata is a wonderful and to a delicious meal. The margarita s have fresh fruit and are lovely.

Excellent service with amazing food, fresh Guacamole by the table and Guadalajara are my favorite. Chips are hot and fresh which makes the wait manageable

TEXAN here and we are always hunting for home made tortillas at a good mexican resturant! Now we where not looking to eat here but hour waits at all other resturants paid off. They offer free tortillas!!!! Delish n hot! Beans and rice both good. Cheese enchiladas and tamales were up to Tex-Mex standards! Pass on tortilla soup too spicy, and crispy taco shell was box :/. Our great sever even sent us home with extra tortillas for some breakfast tacos. We found our spot! It's not San Antonio but it's close enough.

Don't get shrimp. Unlce Julio's Rio Grande - Woodbridge, VA

Our server Dominique was most excellent. She was friendly, easy-going, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. She made dining here for a late lunch very enjoyable.

What we both enjoyed were the seasoned pinto beans with bacon pieces (frijoles a la charra) and the Mexican rice. The complimentary chips were light, fresh and crispy and the mesquite smoked/grilled salsa was addictive and good.

The food however was not good. First off 17.49 - 19.79 for fajitas is over priced. The going rate $13.99 - $15.99. The value for the fajitas gets even worse because the regular (original) fajitas only comes with the meat of your choice and onions. If you want peppers you have to get the "Special" fajitas, which also comes with cheese and sour cream. This forces you to get the "Special" fajitas ($19.79 serves one) because it is not a fajita without the peppers. However, I don't want cheese or sour cream. Uncle Julio's Rio Grande should quit price gouging and make the regular fajita with the peppers like a normal fajita and upcharge for people wanting cheese or sour cream. The fajita prices are at least $3 higher than they should be and the quality of the shrimp was poor.

Spicy Shrimp Fajitas
I got the spicy shrimp fajitas "Special" so that I could have onion AND peppers. (I left the sour cream and cheese untouched). The shrimp had a chemical taste that even the spicy seasoning could not hide. It was disgusting. I added the yummy mesquite smoked salsa to try and hide that chemical taste because I was hungry and I needed to eat. My dining partner tried my shrimp and he too tasted the chemical flavor and no matter how many times I offered him more shrimp he declined because the "flavor" was not pleasing. I ate half the shrimp and left the rest.

My dining companion had the regular/original chicken fajitas and liked it just fine. ($17.49)

We both did not eat our guacamole after one taste because it was crazy salty. It seemed like 1/2 cup salt in our 1/3 cup of guacamole. That was really bad.

I would not ever eat here again but I would hang out for swirl margarita, tasty ice tea, and the chips and mesquite salsa.

Decent food, small tables (ask for a bigger table if you have kids) and very inconsistent/inexperienced customer service staff. Not sure if I will go back.

Service Awesome! Food just okay!. David, our server was AWESOME! After hearing so much about Uncle Julio's was thought the food would be better. My ex-husband loves this place. Me...not so much! I had the shrimp enchilada. The flavor was there, but it did not taste freshly cooked. The special was a chicken tortilla soup. Flavor good, but wayyyyy too many avacodos and not enough chicken.

There is a Uncle Julio's in Atlanta, but I do not think I will bother to go. Too many other choices in the city.

Great menu, great fresh specials. Not your typical East Coast Mexican Restaraunt where they throw mediocre refried beans and rice on your plate next to something smothered in cheese.. Somewhat upscale and pricy, but the food is worth it. The best tortillas I've ever had and I just spent the last 3 years in San Diego. They tasted more like middle eastern flat bread. Delicious! I ordered the special which was crab stuffed jumbo shrimps served over the best rice I've had in a Mex restaraunt. It came with a veg medley of very fresh grilled veggies. It was very good. I ate it all on tortillas with guacamole. Service was mediocre, but my waiter was a young kid. He had a good attitude so I blame his shortcomings on his training/management. The Chef definitely knows his business. The front of the house needs work.I will go again and give them one more shot.
