Off-the-beaten-track=great find! Followed Yelp suggestions for a great breakfast and lunch place and wasn't disappointed!! I want to come back and try some of their meaty lunch dishes (try-tip!)!!! Quirky atmosphere decorated like an African Safari hut and I'm not sure what the significance is for a great breakfast, milkshake, burger and sandwich place but somehow it works! Very friendly, attentive staff (for a counter service) and good food!

This place seem to make breakfast so perfectly and effortlessly, it begs the question: why does every place else in the world seem to struggle to make decent breakfast?! The Shack Scramble* was the right size, with the right amount of fixins and perfectly light, crispy hashbrowns! I can't imagine even giving any other breakfast spot in Woodland a try - why risk it?! (* I subbed hashbrowns for county potatoes)

The food was amazing! Took the kids and they loved just as much. The food Tasted home cooked and we were satisfied with all of it. Kids ate every single bite!! Definitely going back.

Full disclosure, I love elephants (yes, that's a towel elephant as my FB avatar). I've been wanting to go to The Elephant Shack ever since hearing about its existence a few years ago. Husband wanted to go to the new Harbor Freight in Woodland so I made a deal with him; we have breakfast first at The Elephant Shack and then he can browse tools to his heart's content. I think I got the better deal, plus he really loved his breakfast too. Win-win. We were greeted upon entering by a young woman we soon learned was the co-owner, Jackie. After showing me her elephant tattoo when I showed her my elephant bracelet, she made recommendations from the breakfast menu. After we ordered I had to examine each and every elephant I could find. Some really neat ones. I recognized a few that I have in my own collection. My vegetarian omelet was wonderful. Filled with mushrooms, spinach, grilled onions, roasted red peppers and topped with cheese, pico de gallo (with fresh jalapeno pepper) and avocado, there was a perfect proportion of fillings to egg. I hate when omelets have the stuffing all in the middle with big areas of just egg, not so at The Elephant Shack. Each bite contained a delicious mixture of the fillings. I was quite impressed and plan to return with friends for lunch some day soon.

Only a few minutes off of the I5 in Woodland...... well, well worth the stop. Don't judge this book by its cover.......Excellent sandwiches!

I came here for the first time and was very impressed with the location and food but the person taking my order was very unpleasant. From reading other similar reviews, it looks like she may be the owner but I am not sure. She was extremely sarcastic and condescending. I am always happy to support small businesses but her attitude makes me less motivated to return. The written out menu can be overwhelming when you walk in but the menu on their website is well organized and is easier to navigate. I thoroughly enjoyed the food and hope to have a better experience if I return in the future.

great food and service. I can't stand chain restaurants and pretty much only eat at local spots. The food is reasonably priced and freshly prepared. it's not crowded much of thee time either but hopefully it picks up. I have been here many times and plan to keep on coming. A gem of a restaurant!

There are some serious haters on here. This place has amazing food. I eat here multiple times per week and there is no better place in Woodland in my opinion. I never write reviews, but had to for The Elephant Shack after always being treated kindly and always getting amazing food. Keep it up!

Great food! Great service! Great atmosphere! My family is both gluten and dairy free due to allergies. Finding a place able and willing to accommodate that is hard. The elephant shack did a fantastic job. They even went to the back to check some of the food. Outstanding place!

Hands down the best breakfast burrito I've had in Yolo County! especially if you're vegetarian! Their veggie burrito is packed with mushrooms, avocado, onion, spinach eggs, I add potatoes and Im fed for the day. These burritos are large. My husband gets the meat one, likewise it's large, very filling and a lot of value for money. The tortillas have this super flaky texture that doesnt seem to go as soft soggy as other burritos I've had. Service is relatively fast for how busy they can be. I have no idea how the rest for the menu tastes, the burritos are so filling and good Ive struggled to ever order anything else, But if that's the standard then the rest of the menu should be a treat. Adding as this was in my drafts! I’ve since had the garlic fries!!! Absolutely delicious !!!! Now the one thing that knocks them down on my rating is we have driven there 3 times(from Davis) and found them closed. Despite social media(which they seem active on) showing them to be advertising their deal of the day that morning on one of the occasions. Rule of thumb now is to always call them before leaving Davis. If you're planning on driving just to eat here I would recommend you do the same! Otherwise this is a fantastic spot to eat! - If it was just based on the burrito I would give them 10 stars

Stopped by on the way to ft Bragg about 15 minutes before they closed. Food was so awesome and the two ladies there were extra friendly. If I lived in the area I would eat here all the time!
