The very best custard ever , I worked there 1974-1976 , as a kid I could not wait till I could work there. As it was my favorite place ! Now when we come back to visit, we live in Florida we always stop and take our kids and grandkids. We even visited the one in Sarasota.
My family and I have been going there since I was a kid now my kid's enjoy going there watching the air planes land and enjoying their delicious ice cream !!
Nothing cools down the warm Akron summers quite like a banana frozen custard from Strickland's. Seriously, I am not a banana kind of guy, but I am telling you that if you are lucky enough to pass by Strickland's on a day that one of their four always changing flavors happens to be banana, than you are in for a real treat. Strickland's carries chocolate and vanilla (both are very very good) every day, but always has 2 other flavors in stock that change every few days. Some other flavors that are worth the visit if they're carrying it on that day are: Oreo (life changing...I promise.), cotton candy, and fresh strawberry (FRESH is an understatement). Enjoy!
Addicted!! Nothing better! We are regulars! The frozen custard chocolate or vanilla both are great. Could branch out to other flavors but we are hooked on our standard. Try it you'll love it!!
My first time there and I love it! It was with the drive and you really get your money’s worth. I’m from Jersey and really did not know where to get good ice cream. I googled some places and decided to choose Strickland’s. So glad I did!😍😍
You can never go wrong with custard ice cream. This place has yummy goodness ice cream flavors of the day. Service is fast and friendly staff.

without a doubt and by far the best frozen custard on the planet. same machines since 1936. when I am back in Akron and in season I must get a chocolate cone.
“founded in 1936 by Bill and Florence Strickland. During his years as an Akron Pure Milk employee, Bill developed his own rich recipe of cream, eggs, sugar and other ingredients. With his formula perfected, Bill turned his attention to developing an ice cream machine (called a "batch freezer") that would quickly freeze the ice cream, while limiting the air whipped into the product. The result is Stricklands' award-winning ice cream, frozen custard, yogurt and sorbet. “
I have never tasted or ate a coconut ice cream waffle cone, of course, I added carmel/peanuts on the side to my delicious ice-cream
Always great service and love the different flavors offered all month long. Looking forward to nutter butter this month. Last year they didn't make it.
