Corky's Famous Old World Brick Arlington

Pizza Pyromania. I have been wanting to try this place for the longest time. The reviews have been great with everyone inculcating their praises of Corky's. As I was on my way to the outlet mall in Grand Prairie I thought that this would be the perfect opportunity to try Corky's since it is just north of East I-20, after taking the Little Road exit. I don't know if pizza is a great choice on a hot, humid day like today, but it was a fortunate choice for me.

The interior is bright and airy, with sun shining through the lightly tinted windows onto the tables. There were several choices for lunch specials but I had my mind set on the 8" mini personal pepperoni pizza with a side salad and a drink. Total was $8.14. You order at the counter and they they bring the items to you.

The server brought the side salad. I've posted the salad picture on this site. It was okay. It was probably commercial field greens with a couple of tomato slices, delivered with some croutons. I had three choices of dressing and I chose the ranch since bleu cheese was not an option. The Ken's Ranch dressing was fine. I really wanted a salad so I think anything would have been just fine.

By the time I finished the salad it was almost time for my pizza to come out. They have an open-ended brick oven pizza with gigantic open flames. You can see everyone's pizza baking inside. It is very interesting to watch and must be an even more dramatic sight at night. It wasn't too long and the pizza chef brought my pizza to the table. The pizza was great. I like crusts of all kinds because I like bread anyway. This is a thin crust with the sauce reaching the outer edges of the pizza. The pizza is a thinner crust than most, being from the Northeastern style. The sauce was really fresh, didn't taste from a can and had a big tomato flavor. Cheese was sufficient. The pizza was small, but I shouldn't really be eating something more than this anyway. It was probably a full serving at least. Your mileage may vary.

I think you will find Corky's Famous Old World Brick Oven Pizza worthwhile. It is better than most pizza chains (although I do like Pizza Hut's sauce). I really like Corky's crust. If you are not into lots of crust this might be up your alley. I found everyone I had contact with at Corky's to be friendly and helpful. I wish I had a Corky's in my neighborhood.

Incidentally, a reviewer listed below states that they close at eight. Actually they are open until 9 Tuesday through Thursday and until 10 Friday and Saturday. They are closed Sunday and Monday.

This place is great! I had the chicken Alfredo pizza, and it was delicious! Price is slightly steep, but worth it!
