Kin & Comfort is a hidden gem inside the Hana World Market. It’s a humble, small cafe serving some of the biggest and best Asian Fusion cuisine in the city. The menu is unique, the ingredients are fresh…and the flavors are worth the drive to North Austin. The entrees are Tapas style, so sampling is encouraged, but definitely try the Panang Mac & Cheese and Coconut Cabbage Slaw…delish.
It's become one of my favorite places for Asian Fusion cuisine and is worth the drive up north! It knocks my socks off with each dish. Love it!!
TIP: Hours Mon, Wed-Sun 11am-8pm. Located inside entryway of Hana World Market. Cash only.
You can find this yummy Asian and Southern fusion inside the Hana World food court. Be sure to bring cash since both spots in the food court only take cash. The upcoming I Heart Pho may take card once they open.
I tried the Son In Law Deviled Eggs (3 half eggs), and they were way too heavy with sauce. They barely tasted like eggs.
The tastier option I had was the catfish fries over rice. Be warned that the slaw it comes with has quite a bit of lemongrass mixed in if you're not a fan.
Definitely stop in if you're in the area and looking for a quick meal. I'll be back to try the shrimp and grits.
If Asian cuisine fused with comfort food sounds like your greatest dream come true, you're correct--and you can get it at Kin & Comfort. This unassuming counter located in the food court at Hana World Market offers traditional favorites like mac n' cheese and meatloaf with a flavorful twist. The panang beef mac n' cheese is an absolute must--the spice of the beef combined with the lightly sauced noodles makes a perfectly satisfying dish. Although the food court setting isn't ideal and the menu is small, reasonable prices and generous portions will keep me coming back.
