Free Range Kitchen Basalt

I can't say enough about Free Range. It's my favorite restaurant in the valley, hands down. Walking in the restaurant, it's beautifully decorated with rustic yet modern decor. You're always greeted with a smile whether its from the owners, Robin & Steve or one of the friendly waitstaff. We usually saddle up to the bar and love talking to Sean, who makes our night with his stories and all around good vibes. Everything here is always fresh and made soulfully by their talented chef, Chris. I work for a global hospitality company and have been lucky enough to try a lot of food from different chefs from all over - but Chef Chris still makes some of the best dishes I've ever tasted. When they have specials - GO FOR THEM! Last night we had Ahi Tuna Tartare over fresh guacamole with crispy wonton chips & a truffle-artichoke flatbread to start. For the main dish - I had the scallops, which were freshly delivered to the restaurant that day and served atop of pureed celery root, chioggia beets and crispy chips. I almost licked the plate. And the dessert...I'm still dreaming of. A steaming hot cast iron skillet cookie with nutella ice cream and salted caramel drizzle. HEAVEN. One last thing - if you're a wine lover - you've found the right place. Owner Steve has unbeatable knowledge and experience in the wine industry. The restaurant also hosts monthly wine dinners. You MUST visit Free Range. It's obvious the amount of hard work & love that was put into this place. I already can't wait to go back!
