Very good smoky and tender turkey. The pulled pork was extremely tender too. I have a serious affection for sweet potato fries, and theirs are the right ki d of crispy. My husband and I both liked the Cole slaw, which can be subjective.
All other menu items aside, Carroll’s deserves 5 stars just for their amazing brisket. It was so soft and tender while having great flavor. Their hot and spicy sauce is also a big WOW! Zesty while keeping that great BBQ flavor. We had to buy a bottle to go! Their cobbler was delicious and such a generous portion for the price. I’d happily stop here again!
We really liked this place. The atmosphere isn't loud, just plain and good prices with generous meals. It's a good family place. The potatoe salad tastes just like my family's and the coleslaw is really good too. The meats are juicy. We had a super sweet waitress the hostess was a doll.
Their homemade BBQ sauce is yummo!
All the food was so good. Only got 2 pictures, everyone else started eating to fast. Gluten-free options too! Baked beans were my favorite part.
A great local BBQ haunt to enjoy freshly smoked chicken and other mountain delicacies. Carroll's, like so many places right now, is under-staffed. They have instituted an incentive program for their waiters and waitressses, which is great. It took about 15 minutes to get seated on a Friday night--but that's expected. The menu looms large in the oversized entrance lobby, so you can take the opportunity to select some delicious fare. The prices are reasonable with plates and two sides costing just $12. However, there is a markup for premium meat like $2 extra for brisket. The half chicken is still just $12. The service was good and fast considering how busy it was. I ordered the brisket, and my wife, the chicken. When the plates arrived, I immediately regretted my choice. The brisket serving (despite the premium upcharge) was tiny. The sides were the in the wee paper trays like Long John Silver's. So that did not make up for the small meat portion. I would have left hungry but for my beautiful and compassionate wife, who pulled off some of her ample half-chicken to donate to the famine next door. This is obviously a non-corporate, non-franchise, mom and pop business, so I'd still go back. But in the interest of world hunger, I recommend ordering the chicken.
