The wagyu brisket was among the best brisket I have ever eaten. Great job on the pork loin sausage too. All in all, worth the short drive from Boerne. Will definitely be back
How can you not love this place. Owners are the best...the ambiance out in the country is mind blowing and you cannot beat the food and their live music for this time of the year. You won’t regret coming here. I’d like to say that their BBQ is the best but once the owner teases you with that strawberry cheesecake cobbler.....it’s hard to judge at that point. Simple fact: worth the trip and time for an afternoon out in this beautiful country restaurant.
Very friendly staff and the best Texas BBQ we've had to date. We'll be back for the ribs and sausage for sure! Advise that you call in and reserve your order BEFORE you go. Black Board is popular and gets very busy, so they can and will run out of food. We reserved two days prior.
I have eaten out here several times and it is always excellent, and the people there are very friendly. Today I saw them post they had banana bread biscuit bread pudding. Well, the temptation of banana bread pudding was more than I could handle. So I went to BlackBoard Bar B Q for dinner. The chicken fried steak is spot on, and the smoked gravy is life altering. I never pass on the Mac and Cheese here. I had to get the bread pudding to go. Also, don't forget the burnt ends.
It is definitely worth the drive!
Came for lunch on a Friday. The staff were all very friendly, and there were lots of options for outdoor seating. After placing your order, the staff brought the food to your seat, which felt fancier than your average BBQ joint. The food itself was good, but not BBQ I would need to have again. Chicken had a nice, smokey flavor. I always look forward to sides, and ordered the mac and cheese -- the flavor was good, but was surprised to find meat (ham?) pieces mixed in among the noodles and sauce. There wasn't any apparent indicator that the mac and cheese wouldn't be vegetarian, so anyone with dietary preferences or restrictions should ask when ordering just to be safe. If you're already in the area, it's a good option for BBQ.
We stopped in on our way back from visiting the wine country and very happy we did! We wanted everything on the menu but ordered the brisket, burnt ends, ribs, Asian slaw, and cobbler. The brisket melted in our mouth and the burnt ends were moist and flavorful. The ribs were bland compared to the three selections it was our least favorite. The Asian slaw was fresh and crispy, made with oil not mayonnaise and cilantro which I loved! The cobbler with almond cream was excellent!! The “outhouse” was fantastic, better than any bathroom I’ve visited in my 60+ years of dining out! Kudos!
Best BBQ and best staff! I chose to stop at this place based off of simple criteria which usually leads to good BBQ - 1. Off the beaten path. 2. Not too fancy looking and certainly not a restaurant chain. 3. You can see the smoker in action. 4. Lots of cars... Almost anywhere if it meets most of these requirements it'll be good BBQ. What I didn't know was that I stopped at a famous BBQ joint in the middle of nowhere! I can tell you its camps for a reason! Best brisket I've ever had, potatoes are out of this world, and the BBQ sauce is the actual finger licking good stuff! To top it all off the staff are simply the kindest, most helpful and fun anywhere! In particular we were helped by a Kristen (or some close variation of that as I am the worst with names) and she went above and beyond to show hospitality as I was searching the menu. If anyone ever stumbles across this place as I did, Stop! If you know of this place and are trying to decide if it's worth the drive, it is! Quick summary come hungry and leave stuffed with the best BBQ ever, with a side of hospitality!
Y’all come get it! 😋
The atmosphere is quaint and relaxing.
Genuine, country Bbq, literally everything you order is amazing! Sweet, savory, salty and spicy. The staff is fun and welcoming!
Take the extra 5 minutes and get out to it!
Me and my wife drive for food! We saw this place on YouTube & just had to try it out!! It did not let us down in anyway! Jake the owner was absolutely awesome, he gave us wonderful suggestions on foods/drinks that paired well with each other. Everything from the brisket, venison sausage with homemade mustard, and wild boar sausage were the best we ever had! Christie one of the servers was an absolute delight and very helpful and informative. The ambience was spot on & went perfectly with the down-home country style smoked barbecue! We also had an array of their desserts, the blackberry/peach cobbler was worth the drive by itself! This place is without a doubt “ OUT OF BOUNDS” awesome!! It is definitely worth the drive no matter where you’re coming from.
Awesome atmosphere! A bit on the pricey side, but well worth it! Yummy In my tummy!
