Went here after looking up the reviews and our first impressions were good. There is street parking but on a Friday night it is likely going to be packed. Fortunately there is a parking garage right next door.
The decor of the restaurant is vibrant, full of art and vintage photographs. The atmosphere feels modern and intimate. The owners are on site and very welcoming to customers.
We ordered a selection of dishes: lasagna, gnocchi, risotto, Margherita pizza, meatballs... all were cooked to perfection. The pasta was fresh and delicious and the food came out at a great pace.
We ended the night with an order of homemade tiramisu which was worth every calorie along with a light strawberry gelato which ended the evening perfectly. This was our first visit but won't be our last!
This my second review after I got a personal tour of the wood burning oven that came from Italy. Not just any brick oven will do for this place. Pasquale explained the way the bricks absorb the heat vs reflect which, when combined with the dough with flour from Italy (of course) you get a pizza (among other dishes) that make you want to cry! Love this place!
My friends and I visited today. We tried nine different items from the menu, and every single dish was amazing. Excellent service and great atmosphere. The owner served us personally, and he couldn't be nicer. We'll be going back soon!
Wow! What an amazing experience all around! From service to food everything exceeded our expectations! We were unsure of what to start with so the chef came out offered a few suggestions and made us a selection of appetizers to start which were out of this world. He then came back out an offered a few suggestions for family style entree so we could experience a little bit of everything. You could really tell how much they love and enjoy food and entertaining guests. We can't wait to go back!
A Vucchella did a terrific job on my birthday last month, and I want to thank Pasquale and his staff. It was a milder than usual day, and I made a special request of having a table outside ---- they accomodated and did a great job. The food did not disappoint. I had a steak and it was cooked perfectly. My wife and sister had lasagna and that dish, as usual, was excellent. We all had the minestrone soup, which was also very good. To top it off, we got tiramasu --- first class. The table service by Pasquale and Concetta was, as always, very good. Overall, a very nice experience and I highly recommend Trattoria 'A Vucchella.
First time here @ this marvelous Italian restaurant. This is now my "Go To" place for fine dining before I go to the Hartford Amphitheater in Bridgeport for a concert. I started with the grilled clams that came with a touch of light sauce that complemented the clams very well, there was some toasted bread points on the dish which even made the clams more delicious. Then came the Arugula salad with cubes of beets & pieces of goat cheese, this salad really hit the spot & for the entree the Veal Marsala with mashed potatoes was perfectly done. The marsala sauce & the taste were quite exceptional.
They even have Allagash White on tap, a Belgium beer, which has been my favorite beer for two years now.
Joe @ the Bar was very accommodating & even the owner came over to see how things were going. The prices are reasonable, the service is top notch & of course, the food is scrumptious... Yay
Best pizza in Fairfield county! Pizza here is similar to Zeneli's in New Haven (4.9 rating on Google Reviews) which is usually my go-to place. If you're looking for authentic Italian pizza don't bother going to any other place in the area. (pictures show the broccoli rabe and vegetarian pizza)
