Great place with the nicest people! We were traveling thru while on vacation and stopped in for hand dipped ice cream. We are so glad we did. Clean and neat, delicious ice cream, friendly owners, and my sundae was served in a glass dish with a real spoon! Hope to be back someday.
Just stopped in to get ice cream and the place is small and cozy and very friendly. Their cotton candy ice cream is heavenly! My boyfriend loves his cookies n cream too. Would come back for sure!
Nestled at the bottom of a residential hill transecting communities, State Street Sweets and Eats, formerly Kay's Ice Cream, is a place with a cultural landscape equal to it's tastes. Most noticeable, sweets, otherwise known as Jessica, the store's manager, gets to know all of her customers and speedily wins them over or offers to drive them home if it starts raining – she takes her career seriously. Her trusted cooks, sweet and savory, perhaps the most overqualified bunch in town, mull over their poems on their way to serve you coffee. Stay for a while. Welcome to the heart of Bristol, central to everything. Know them. The Hardware store owner, down for lunch, or Carl's mechanic, all line up for their generous servings. Church go-ers, newspaper readers, artists, or the down and out, sweet women and savory women, sweet men and savory men, although there is much chewing, and the conversation is as you would expect in a home town place like this, this restaurant will always be the community hub of our city. There is a common chord here, something unspoken, a reason beyond food that we come here. Every community needs an epicenter, often coffee shops, always small, historic places like this, a place that feels like home.
