I used to work really close to the Untamed Sandwiches near Bryant Park but, never went in. When I saw this location open up, I knew I had to try their sandwiches. The sandwiches each had a different flavor profile along with a unique ingredient (ie pickled raisin jelly, black garlic butter, etc). Andy, one of the owners, took the time to explain how they braise the meats and each protein is a sustainable ingredient. I got to try a few sandwiches and my favorite was the Chicken Tinga and then the Carla Bruni. The cookies were super delicious and affordably priced at $2 a piece.
They make a really good food they have steam table they have tear tables to seat they have high chair clean restaurant.
Wow, I’m not usually a sammich person, but I needed a quick lunch in DUMBO so I decided to trust Yelp, and just wow. I hoped I’d be able to find something I wanted, and there are at least 4 options I want, to the point where I considered getting an extra to go, and I may go out of my way to come back to try others. I went with the meatball sammich minus the bread—I did the grits plate. It’s mice that they offer plates with grits or salad instead. The food was very good, the meatballs weren’t over cooked. It wasn’t a huge plate, it was a good amount for me, but if one is used to a massive amount of food, maybe go for a side. The carrots were good, although quite greasy, and I wasn’t expecting them to be cold, which they were.
The staff are friendly and helpful. The grits are not instant—I asked, and the cashier was so excited about them she insisted I taste them before ordering. They have a list of their suppliers for each kind of item up on the wall, which is cool. Not a ton of seating but it’s efficient communal seating and I expect they get a lot of people in and out. The food wasn’t super quick, more along the lines of shake shack, like between 5 and 10 minutes.
I also like that they have real sugar, small-batch fountain soda—and right now it’s free with a Yelp check in, so what’s not to like!
Id consider 5 stars later, but I’d rarely do that in a first visit.
