Location: Sportsmen’s Tavern Order: 10 Hot Wings and 10 Greg’s Wings Let’s keep the good times rollin’! I stopped into the Sportsmen’s Tavern for a show and had the great opportunity to talk with Jason Hall–One of the proprietors of this fine establishment. They are currently re-vamping their menu, but one thing that has consistently been on it is their chicken wings. They offer two different styles here. One is your traditional buffalo wing and the other are ‘Greg’s Wings’. Greg’s wings are a dry spice-rubbed chicken wing that are fried, grilled and then tossed in sauce. They are fried for first five minutes of cooking time, then they’re grilled for the other 80 percent of the way. Both options are served with a fresh, blue-cheese. I always forget how nice it is to not have to ask for blue cheese (There are a lot of dreaded ranch degenerates out there!). If given the option, I would order the Greg’s wings over the traditional. While the traditional buffalo wing had some crisp to it, it could’ve definitely #RespectTheCrisp a little more. For this, we give these a respectable 7.7. The Greg’s wings were grilled to perfection and packed a slight punch. Surprisingly, these wings had a crisp to them, despite being grilled. For that, we give these Greg’s wings an 8.1.
