TOMMY’S WOK...DON’T ‘WOK’ – RUN, FOR GREAT CHINESE FOOD. It’s seems that Chinese Restaurants are either great or not-so-great. Let’s set the record right now... Tommy’s Wok is great; actually it’s better than great. On our first visit the place was packed with lots of diners who seemed to be very hungry – but that didn’t discourage us. So we decided to wait for an opening. Lots of people were doing the ‘take-out’. But we wanted the sit down and jump in with the rest of the hungry tables. It was only about a ten minute wait. We ordered our (first-time) standard fare – Kung Pao chicken, sweet and sour appetizers, steamed rice (of course), green beans. This was only from our first visit. At that point we have it a ‘thumbs-up’. On our return trip we had the Fried Wontons as an appetizer, Lovers Prawns sautéed in light wine sauce with garlic, ginger and a chili sauce and the Mu Shu Pork with bean sprouts, cabbage, green onions and bamboo shoots. What a treat! We can’t wait to go back, we are not going to order ‘to go’ but sit with the others and just keep ordering.... On the “Tommy B Restaurant Rating Scale” from “A” to “F” Tommy’s Wok in Carmel get’s an “A+.”.

Excellent. We stumbled across Tommy's searching for somewhere for dinner and since we (2Adults, 2 kids) all love Chinese and Thai foods we thought we'd give it a go. Now no offence to my American friends but I can be critical of Chinese restaurants in the US as they can often be heavily Americanized and offer a far from authentic experience (no offence intended we can do the same thing in Australia too).

The food was excellent, the meals were very authentic and the service impressive! I was even more impressed by the price as the 4 of us just ate our fill at a Chinese restaurant including 2 glasses of wine and 4 soft drinks for the kids for $90 (plus tip of course).

It is a little difficult to find but it is more than worth the effort!

While vacationing in Carmel we came across this hidden gem. It is well hidden but worth asking around for it. The food was reasonably priced and awesome.
