The Potato House Colorado Springs

We really love this quaint little German restaurant. There are only 8 or so tables inside so I strongly recommend making a reservation. The owner is from eastern Germany and her food reflects that. It's not only delicious but a little lighter than German food I've eaten. She cooks with coconut oil and other substitutions. She makes so much from scratch and it's all fantastic. Our starter salads she gave us were SO fresh!! And the white balsamic house dressing is awesome. We ordered the cheese balls as an appetizer and I strongly suggest you do the same! It's basically fried cheesy mashed potatoes, that's all you need to know! I ordered the chicken cordon bleu - It was tasty but a little dry for me - I will switch up my selection next time HOWEVER, you can add mushroom sauce for an additional charge which may solve my dilemma! My boyfriend ordered the Pork Jagerschnitzel for din and he loved it. He's been asking to go back since our visit. Onto more important things - the dessert. The Kalter Hund Cake tasted like a rich kit-kat filled cake. So good. Great prices, great food, great restaurant! Call ahead! ***Back again! The solyanka soup is out of this world. A few meats with pickles in a tangy red broth and sour cream on top-SO much flavor. Definitely different than anything I've had. We both love it! I got the chicken frikassee and it was such a comforting meal! Tender chicken and vegetables in a creamy white stew sauce over rice. It was a really wonderful meal. My boyfriend got the same thing as last time and still loves it. He is uncomfortably full and very happy.
