Visiting from out of town and wanted to have good bbq. Hoegemeyer’s simply doesn’t disappoint. I ordered the plate with Spanish rice, potato salad, beef ribs, and marbled brisket. Everything was great, but especially the ribs and brisket. Both were tender, fall apart consistency that were perfectly seasoned and smoke. As someone not from Texas this was a great way to experience this style of bbq for the first time. Would love to go again. Also worth mentioning all the staff were incredibly friendly and nice to talk to. Great service and food.

Ode to Barbecue Sauce: The Nectar of Life Close your eyes and picture a bottle - nay, a vessel - of sweet, tangy, smoky barbecue sauce. Visualize the rich mahogany color, the texture as thick as molasses. Now open your eyes and behold this elixir, this encapsulation of summer's bounty, distilled into a condiment so versatile, so nuanced, it brings joy, meaning, and sticky fingers to any meal. This sauce is alchemy in a bottle. The umami depth of tomatoes mingle with brown sugar's sultry sweetness and smoke's enigmatic allure. Each flavor note melds in harmony yet sings alone, like a choir of angels heralding the arrival of barbecue season. Slather it on juicy ribs, brushed wings, sizzling burgers and even simple fries to see it perform its culinary magic. But barbecue sauce is more than just a condiment - it is the tie that binds us together around the grill or picnic table. It represents camaraderie on hot summer days, bringing family and friends to break bread and share in the sacrament of smoking meat. Barbecue sauce connects us to our roots, to centuries of slow-cooking over fire, when cooking meat low and slow was a way of life. So as you reach for that holy bottle of sauce, recognize that you are taking part in an ancient rite. When you pour it slowly over pulled pork, you baptize your meal in the name of flavor. Each bite is communion; each shared moment a sermon on the meaning of summer. Let barbecue sauce remind you that food is connection, community, love. It is the nectar that feeds our bodies and our souls. I like the BBQ sauce here.

Today was our second time visiting. We came yesterday 09/07/23 right before closing time and grabbed their beef ribs, baby back ribs and brisket. Both were VERY tender and the beef ribs were seasoned to perfection. We also had the baked beans, Texas potato salad, coleslaw and bread pudding (which was very tasty I might add). The atmosphere and the customer service was amazing and they were very accommodating. We met the owner to see if we could get their beef ribs shipped to us in Chicago and he has the best southern hospitality that we have encountered in a while. The icing on the cake was he told us he love us. That left us we a great feeling. So if you are teetering on which Corpus Christi BBQ place to stop at, THIS IS THE ONE. Sorry we didn’t get any pictures for you. The food was just that good.

Ordered Texas reuben sandwich plate. Toasted sandwich bread was practically too soggy to eat without making a bit of a mess. It was tasty, though. Pinto beans were good. Slaw was bland. "Hint" of peach cobbler (no peaches located) was doughy and more like bread pudding, but still tasty. Service was very pleasant and efficient. Food preparation was fairly quick.

Great place. Good parking space. Vantage Texan building in and out. Owner and Staff very friendly. Coleslaw and peach Cobbler were perfect.. Great Texas Tater Salad. Beef ribs tasty and big. Enough portions to get out of there in wheelchair. But a little burnt in top layer. This is a must stop place if you visit Corpus Christi

We had our class reunion at Hogemeyer’s BBQ and it was perfect! The atmosphere was fun and casual. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. David was extremely helpful and accommodating. We had lots of space for our group of 70. I would highly recommend Hogemeyers for a group event. Our event went very smoothly and was so easy.

Had 2 meat plate with sliced brisket (marble) and baby back ribs, with baked tater salad and green beans as sides. The ribs were smoky and the brisket was very tender, and both meat were very tasty and flavorful. Loved the sides too especially the baked tater salad. There was also peach cobbler included in the meal, which was a good treat. Welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff. Also visited for a second time as we were leaving town and got another meal to go, since we loved this place so much.
