HOLY COW!!!. Or should I say, "Holy Chicken"? I finished eating my first Chicken Coop experience. AMAZING STUFF! Talk about fresh. I had the 3pc Fish & Shrimp. Everything was hot and fresh. Even though they have a drive thru, I wouldn't consider them "fast food". I drove up to a warm greeting, ordered my food, and then I was told it was going to be about 6 minutes. Six minutes for what!? To drop the freshly battered fish and shrimp in the oil of course! Definitely a great first experience. Will be back again.
A Hidden Gem. These are the places that make America great. Just a full on American roadside Drive-In menu. If you take all the Drive-in restaurants you grew up eating at, and combined their menus, you'd have the menu for the Chicken Coop. They specialize in fried chicken (duh, huh?) but have everything else you can imagine. Awesome.
And you cant be in a hurry, because they make it when you order it. No pre-made junk here. A fresh burger, thrown on the grill when you order, cooked the way you like it. Freshly battered chicken dropped in the fryer when they get the ticket. It comes out hot, perfectly crispy, and just lightly greasy - just amazing.
And the lady is as friendly as all get out at the window, at prices everyone can afford.
Situated on the western edge of DT Corpus, in a bit of an industrial area, this place is a little off the beaten path, but so worth finding.

Great Chicken. Drive up here from downtown Corpus Christi occasionally. Chicken also crisp and juicy. Sides can vary. Always worth the drive.
Just went by there to buy a 20 piece chicken. It's the Bomb dot come!!! My kids loved it. Lady was very nice and professional. The place looks old and abandoned but the chicken is awesome! I will go again soon
The FOOD is GREAT I've been going there for years, But The lady is so rude even after I waited more then ten min blowing my horn & calling in on my cell WOW I never had this bad service there when the older lady was working they need new worker's
Love this place, I always take a 20 min drive from the Southside of town just to get it! Great food great service! And Everything is FRESH!!!
I just move down the street a couple weeks ago have had them twice and every time chicken is always fresh and by far the best chicken I've had in awhile
the hamburgers were delicious and juicy the onion rings were good thank you very much for the dollar day let us know when you have another one
