Quintessential dive bar that you wish was in every neighborhood. Friendly, cozy atmosphere, fantastic no frills burgers and the place where everybody knows your name! Love this place!!
Cincinnati Magazine recently came out with their list of the 45 Best Burgers in Cincinnati and I reprinted the list along with my experiences and blog posts of the burgers. . Coming in at #18 on the list is Herb & Thelmas Tavern in Covington. It's on Pike across the interstate from the old Jillian's. It looks a bit sketch - it's got really goofy food paintings on the front that don't look like real food. In fact - the windows are boarded over so I've driven by it a million times and didn't really know if it was actually still open. But when I saw it on the list - I knew we had to go!
My son & I were just passing through and stopped in for some quick eats. The owner greeted us warmly & chatted us up while he was cooking the food. Great history, great straight-up burgers & chili, cool 'neighborhood bar' vibe. Try the ice-cold Hershey bar for dessert!
Great burger with history!. Went there Sunday (yes, they're open Sun during football/college basketball seasons) for lunch. New owner, Rich, made us great burgers. He's very friendly and clearly committed to keeping up the heritage of the place, plus has added Covington memorabilia. Prices are low, non-smoking durin gthe day, will definitely return. Glad to see H&T's will continue in good hands!
Great, no frills Hamburgers. I had a great cheeseburger and bean soup. Top tier burger in the area.
Walked in being referred to this place by a good friend. Had high expectations and they delivered. Quick and friendly. Stocks Grippo chips for their sides 👏👏 Wasn't warned about it being cash only so heads up on that. They do have an ATM and the fee is small so it's not too bad but try and have cash. Smaller place with limited seating so be patient. Will be back.
My favorite burger place in the World. Hole in the wall joint, cash only but so worth it. Swear they have a secret ingredient that makes you crave their stuff
Cozy Tavern with kind-hearted staff. I was able to watch the football game and have a delicious burger with good company! Highly recommend stopping by! 🍔
This was a great lunch dining experience. Upon entry the aroma of fresh grilled beef hit you as you entered.. The cheeseburgers were amazing and the atmosphere was historically cozy.
It is a cool ole time little tavern. They have the old interior, beer signs, beer bottle collections, etc. Takes you back to a different time. Have a small grill so their menu is not huge but their food is tasty. You just don't find a lot of places like this anymore.
