Verona Pizza And Italian Restaurant Decatur

Great Italian food! I have never had anything bad here and my family loves all of their pasta dishes. They also have a good rotation of specials. It's the only place I've found that serves spinach calzones--something I've missed since moving here. A very nice family runs the place and a lot of the staff and patrons are on a first name basis. It's a cozy, comfortable, clean local haunt. Believe the good reviews and try it for yourself.

Believe the positive reviews that are written here.  They are the real deal.  They do an excellent version of Linguini in White Clam sauce (or red sauce, if you prefer).  The linguini was al dente and the dish was not drowning in sauce, which is the way I prefer it.  Lots of olive oil with the clams and just lightly seasoned--just how I like it. The garlic bread was absolutely delicious.  Just out of the oven, it was puffy, doughy and buttery.  They make a good iced tea as well.  I noticed one table of two ordered pasta along with a large pizza.  They were smart.  They had leftover pizza that I missed out on.  It looked so good to me with the thick golden crust.  Note to self:  Must return for pizza.  Pronto!

As busy as it was, with every table full, I was expecting the service to be slipshod, but it was not to be.  My server stopped by the table several times, checking on me to see if I needed my drink refilled, lacked anything, and checked to see if I wanted dessert.  I saw so many servers that it appeared that each one had a maximum of two tables to cover.

I had a problem with the address on my GPS though.  The address listed seems to be correct (201 N. Highway 287, Decatur, TX).  This is the address that is listed on their take-out menu as well.  My GPS led me a quarter mile further north to a derelict building.  The restaurant is actually on the other side of 287, the west side, right next to the defunct Yesterdays Restaurant at the crest of the hill.

It's not much on the outside, kind of '70's rustic Italian.  It's what's inside that counts.  When it is full of people, like today, it is noisy and joyous.  Tables are set up for four to eight people, if not more.  A couple of TV's, dim lighting and all sorts of friendly folk.  It is better than a lot of Italian restaurants I've been to in the DFW area.  You need to check this place out!

Great Food Great Service. Ive been going to Veronas for many years. Me and my family love Italian food... Ive tried about everything and its by far the best italian food in North Texas. My kids love the hand tossed pizza. My favorite is the shrimp pomadoro and the tiramisu. Friendly family and i deff recommend
