When I walked in, the whole place smelled of fresh mint mojitos! Forget ordering them by the glass, get a pitcher for your party (4 drinks for the price of 3). Our appetizer was fantastic - the mojo (garlic salsa) was delicious. Their seafood paella can't be beat but the lechón (shredded pork shoulder) is very good, too. The maduras (fried ripe plantain) are excellent, so good without being greasy. We finished our meal with delicious cups of cafe con leche and some chocolate concoction that was perfectly sweetened while still letting the deep dark chocolate notes shine through. But most outstanding was the service!!! The bartenders were friendly (they will not seat you until your entire party is present - but some time at the bar is only a good thing), and super informed about rum from throughout Latin America. We met a woman in the bar (also waiting for a table) who worked next door and was trying the restaurant for the first time because she had watched heaps of fresh fruits and vegetables being delivered daily. Our server had recently returned from a trip to Cuba and she shared a few stories, made great meal suggestions, and was attentive. Ellen??? Was that her name? Their outside patio is very small but if you have the chance to sit out there, it's worth waiting. The night was perfect! Toward the end of the meal the manager stopped by because there had been a few raindrops on the patio, and told us a bit about the owner (a good friend of hers). Our party isn't the most outgoing but, the staff was so friendly that we thoroughly enjoyed every single interaction with them as much as the delicious meal. We're all certain to return the next time we're in Denver!

We loved this place! We had the ceviche as an appetizer, the tropical fish and the vaca frita for entrees, and the flan de queso for dessert and everything was spot on! The mojitos are some of the best I have had, and the our server (Sarah), was friendly, knowledgeable, and on top of it! Will be back for sure!

Best place in town. We had frequented the Highlands Ranch Sandwicheria location for months but didn’t have the pleasure of visiting the original until yesterday. And man, what a treat. From the mojitos (to die for) to the atmosphere, to the absolutely flooring food... we will be back. Again and again and again.
