We had a late lunch at Moonlight Cafe today and arrived with healthy appetites. I had the Scallops with vodka rosé sauce over penne and my mother had the same dish except with lump crab meat. The server was pleasant and friendly, as was the owner Marco. A nice crisp salad and wonderful warm dinner rolls started us off. Our entrees were amazing! Both dishes had generous portions of perfectly cooked pasta and lump crabmeat and scallops. And the vodka rosé sauce, well, I have never had better. It was perfectly preprared and was gently rich as it did not overpower the dish. We ended our lunch with delicious, fresh brewed coffee but did not have room for dessert. I always love when a lunch or dinner out becomes the main event of the day. Moonlight Cafe was definitely a main event!

Small, noisy, not fancy, BUT we enjoyed some of the best Italian food I've had (aside from my wife, mother and grandmother of course!). The fried calamari didn't have a drop of grease, and the portion sizes were more than enough ... even for me. Pleasant, courteous staff. Absolutely no negatives. I would highly recommend it, and its BYOB.

Moonlight Cafe is a true gem in Dover!! We've been for both lunch and dinner neither of which has ever been a disappointment! We have brought out of town guests here for dinner and they have fallen in love with the place! One couple, of Italian decent, stated it has some of the best Italian food they've had! The place is small and very busy early in the evenings but if you go around 7pm or so we've found you usually don't have to wait. They do take reservations during the week and I believe weekends are first come basis.
