As I approached, I was first intrigued by the aroma of seasoned boiled. The atmosphere is cozy, very comfortable, personable, and family oriented; everyone that greeted me had a smile and was courteous and attentive. The corn and crab bisque soup was tasty and the boiled crawfish was flavorful and seasoned well. I would recommend this place, and I will be back to try other items.
A hidden gem. From the outside, it doesn’t look like much, however inside is a seafood lovers paradise. Have been several times now, and has quickly become one of my favorite go to spots for lunch. Have had the Shrimp & Grits, top notch. Charles seafood platter is enough for two people, and very tasty. Would recommend this to anyone in town visiting as opposed to the more commercial seafood places. You will get better food, and stretch your dollar further. Lastly... do not leave without trying the Praline Bread Pudding. Outstanding!
Oh my gosh, I make sure to come back here every time I’m home. The service is so good it feels like family, every single thing on the menu is delicious (for instance, the raw oysters, which are half off by the dozen every Tues/Wed, taste fresh and are huge; the seafood platter reliably feeds the soul; the gumbo isn’t too salty, my usual complaint at other places; even the cole slaw is great, not too much mayonnaise, and not watery). Since it’s so informal, it’s easy to bring family or friends. I really enjoy the relaxed vibe and fun bayou/NOLA decor. Very reasonable price, and today our server even gave us extra oysters because she noticed some were a bit small. I’m not a sports person, but can see that it’s also a great place for that, too. All thumbs up.
