I really want to give it five stars, but I won't, and I'm going to be fully honest. The food was DELICIOUS. The staff was professional and they always had a smile on their face while serving food and ringing tabs. However, the way that food is delivered to the table can be improved greatly. Numbers or something need to be given so that when food comes out in the way it was ordered, it can be sent to the proper tables. Today, I saw the gentleman go to the same table over and over again for over 30 minutes because he kept getting their entree and sides wrong. There was no way for him to know which plates went to which tables. One lady ordered catfish before US, but didn't get her entree until after a family that order AFTER her did. She even called out for it. Like I stated, the service was nice, but that delivery of the food was questionable. Don't worry though - you only had to wait extra time if you were ordering anything fried or broiled. My children had fried chicken and two sides, my husband had smothered and his three sides, and I had short ribs and three sides as well.
Gaston's punch is free as long as you're dining in, and it's just your regular mill tropical punch with a fancier name.
The meats were tender, the fried chicken was juicy, and yes, the pig's feet that I ordered as my second meat was flavorful and perfectly cooked. The sides weren't overcooked or over-seasoned, and I would definitely go back after calling my order in.
I do want to go back and sit, but I know not to order any of the specials or anything fried until they get a better system for delivery of food to the tables afterwards.
The young man that they had working for them was pleasant and went above and beyond to make sure that our table was taken care of. I would like to say that we received special attention, but he gave the same professional attention to every single table in that dining area, and it made me smile.
We came to Sabrina's on a fluke because another soul food restaurant we wanted to try was on vacation, but they may have made repeat customers of us for good.
Things you should know. It's $1 MORE to dine IN, so keep that in mind. Children 3 and under eat for .95 but once you hit 4 you're at $7.95, so plan accordingly.
Gastons punch is free but bottles of pop are $1 while cans are .50. The specials are pricier and you don't have an option of doing a double meat, so your second meat upcharge is $3.95. You won't need a second meat - it was that much food.
Nice ambiance, and located in a strip mall for free parking.
The only other problem I can foresee is someone becoming a bit irritated at the wait on a Sunday. Look, it's soul food, and a day when most people don't feel like cooking. There will be a wait. Especially when your fried and broiled foods are being made as they are ordered. Patience is a virtue, and I'm sure you learned that in church service before making your way to the restaurant. Leave about 15 minutes to order and walk through line and you should be good.
Absolutely wonderful food, atmosphere and service.
This was my first time having Sabrina's. I enjoyed everything about my experience. The fried chicken taste homemade and not too salty. The soul food sides taste great too. The restaurant is cozy and comfortable. Overall everyone was nice and welcoming. I'd home here any night that.
