Since each Kolache Factory is a franchise not all stores are created equally. Having said that I am at this location every week since it is on the way to church. But in relation to the other locations that I patronize this location is just average. The biggest problem I have is in the Kolache Factory's signature item, the Ranchero kolache. This location's ranchero kolache is weak. Other locations rancheros have a little bite to them, which is the point behind the ranchero. I often wonder if they have given me a Denver Omelet kolache instead of a ranchero. My other complaint is that they have been out of Dr Pepper for three months now. The staff is friendly enough but even that is pretty average. Still Kolache Factory kolaches beat anyone else's kolaches. Even at this average location.
Kolaches are seriously addictive. I eat these every morning when I'm in Houston. A Kolache is this very soft roll filled with various food items such as Brisket, bacon egg & cheese, chicken enchilda or spinach to name a few. In addition to savory fillings, there are sweet options too like danish or cinnamon twists. Food is baked daily and when any item sells out, you're out of luck until the next day, so be sure to visit early! And when you're asked if you want them warmed, always say yes!
There are a lot of locations, but I always go to this one. The kolaches are fresh & delicous, and the ladies behind the counter are friendly & welcoming. This store is located in a small strip mall right next to a Starbucks, so parking can be difficult sometimes as the lot is very small. But, it is a corner location with easy exits onto Memorial or (I think it's) Hwy 6.
This food item should definitely be on your list when in Houston. Be sure to stop by for some melt-in-your mouth goodness!
Best Kolaches. You'll never want Shipley's again
