Issaquah SO needed a place like this! I ordered the Shoukadou bento - it was beautiful and delicious! So much food that I split into two meals (although I’ve been told I’m a small eater). I will definitely be coming back to Bento-ya Goemon to satisfy my Japanese food cravings. :)
We had "Shokado" Bento. All items in the box are soooo good!! Sashimi, tenpura, Cal-rolls, teriyaki chicken-----and good price!! We will definitely go back!
Oh my goodness!! The seafood poke bowl is so good. I'm absolutely going back for take out for my birthday dinner! The customer service here is wonderful as well. I love their amazing selection. I'm so happy to have found this restaurant.
I really look forward to Goemon when I’m in the area. Great Japanese food and Japanese owned. I highly recommend this place.
I love this place! They have a reliable online takeout system and accurate pick up time (usual 30 minutes after placing an order). They have a wide selection of home cooked bento style Japanese food from meat to fish. The food taste is less sodium flavor which I love. The people are very friendly and well aware of social distancing (i.e. one customer inside at the time) and cleanliness (i.e. clean vs. used pen to sign).
The best Japanese rice meals in town come from this place. They have a strong Japanese-bias authenticity, which means their food are not too "Americanized". Japanese is my favorite cuisine, and this is one of the best I've had here in WA. This is my guilty pleasure, and I come here a lot (sometimes daily, or every other day).
Japanese curry is my favorite curry, and they do it right, with their katsukarē (offered in both tonkatsu and chicken katsu). It reminds me Kyoto for some reason. I have tried almost all their entrées, and I am delighted to say that I have never been disappointed.
While their more American-friendly breaded food like tempura, katsu, and furai (fry) entrées are fine (definitely better than anything in the area), their rice bowls are where it's at. They do offer a variety of food that others are too afraid to serve like saba (mackerel) and kaki (oyster). Even their pork belly "ton toro" bowl is a treat.
I also love their bento entrées, as they come with macaroni salad. This one is definitely a Filipino-Hawaiian influence. They're bigger bento do come with maki instead. They also sell a variety of Japanese snacks, and even some cold Ramune's.
The only real thing I do not like is the small menu — although that is not necessarily a bad thing. I do however wish they have katsudon/oyakodon, and some ika or tako (squid/octopus — gotta love those tentacles!) entrées.
Finally, the staff are great, they always smile and will definitely remember your name.
Their bento lunch special is my favorite I get the chicken katsu with salmon avocado roll every time. The variety of foods you get in it is perfect for me and it's the perfect serving size.
Solid bento box with great presentation. Dessert cups from pastry mitten are a hidden gem!
One bento box enough for two meals... Good varieties for a single box
