I want to start this review by saying that I am a travel blogger. That means I have enjoyed (or not) many restaurants around the globe. With that said, know that Jons Kebab House is one of the most delicious meals I have enjoyed. While this is a "no frills" restaurant (patio seating with picnic tables) - the gastro experience is a SOLID 5 STARS! The owner (perhaps his name is Jon?) was extremely attentive. All were quite understanding and accommodating about my tomato allergy and even brought out "bonus" treats individualized according to allergies and palate. Since it was my hubby's birthday, it was a very fun surprise to have the owner bring him a rice pudding adorned with special spices. Quite the surprise!
This is a culinary gem in San Diego County near Santee Lake Recreation resort. Go! and then ... GO AGAIN!
Not a typical Mediterranean restaurant. The flavors are unique. They have soups and Palows (stews) as well as kebabs, burgers, gyros, fries and lamb dishes. Everything is made fresh when you order so be prepared to wait or call in your order ahead. I'll be back for some dine in service.

OMG. Ok I've only ever left a review for one other restaurant. This place most definitely deserves one as well. First off, the owner was so sweet and let my fiancee try the dishes first to make sure we like it...how sweet is that?!
Ok on the food... the FOOD. I took my first bite of the Lamb Karahi(the one in the middle) and literally stopped and thought
"... omg thats. SO. GOOD." I then took a bite of all of the other dishes and thought the same thing. Literally every dish.
Their hummus was THE smoothest hummus I've ever had.
The Eggplant Pakora was nice and crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside. The flavoring on it was just insane. I know it's an appetizer but I could go back just for that.
The Chicken Qabuly was seasoned so perfectly. The chicken, the rice, the salad....just perfection. My fiancee inhaled it.
The Spinach Curry was so flavorful and cooked so well. It was so filling and again, seasoned so perfectly you don't even miss meat.
Their food was all so flavorful but not overpowering. Everything was cooked to tender perfection. I will ABSOLUTELY be coming back here. A+++++++++
Made to order. Fresh and delicious. Authentic yet regionally different than other middle eastern food you find in So. Cal. The ice tea is a delicious surprise with honey and cardamom (I think cardamom).
Seriously some of the best food that I’ve ever had!! I had the chicken kabob with rice and the flavor was perfect! The ingredients were super high quality and I could taste the spices. My husband had the lamb and he said that there was no grizzle and the lamb was very tender. My son had the gyro and fries and he said it was delicious. We look forward to coming back soon and trying other menu items. I met Jon, the owner, and he was very nice!
Visiting Jon's is always a great experience. The food is fresh so the speed is slow, but definitely worth it. Just plan ahead that food takes about 20-40 minutes. The beef and lamb kebobs are amazing as well as the shawarma. Can't go wrong with a visit to Jon's.
Absolutely incredible food and the owner is so kind and genuine! While I was waiting for my to-go order he brought me lentil soup to try, which as other reviews mention, is absolutely DELICIOUS!! I basically never order soup anywhere, but I absolutely will add some to my next order from here. The gyro/chicken combo I got (added chicken to gyro combo) was sooo good. Everything was amazingly seasoned and super tasty
I took my daughter with me to pick up dinner for our family tonight. The people who run this place are so wonderful. They were so catering and so welcoming. The food was absolutely delicious. We will be coming back again very soon. I highly suggest the lentil soup, the lamb and the hot tea. Yum!
