We were headed south through Georgia trying to stay off I 95 but east of Atlanta. We stumbled into Big Kev's for a late lunch and boy were we lucky. The pulled pork sandwich hit the perfect sweet spot between hearty pork flavor and succulent mouth feel. There were no dry meat strings and no globs of fatty gooo --- just juicy, meaty, succulent flavorful mouth fuels of chewing extasy. But that wasn't what made Big Kev's stand out from other BBQ places. His sides are above the fray. I love Brunswick stew so I ordered a side. Perfect - in the background a hint of bone broth flavor but up front taste of corn and chicken perfectly seasoned to give it a hint of pop but let the natural flavors rule. I wanted to try the okra, catfish sandwich and cole slaw (that my wife said was so good that she didn't want to share it). But time was short and the generous serving left me stuffed, so we moved on south.

I had a sampler of pulled pork, catfish and beef brisket with sides of Brunswick stew and fried okra. Everything was excellent. The stew was especially like what i grew up with. The okra seemed to be breaded in house and was perfect. The beef brisket was simply the best I have ever had anywhere.

I went there to eat yesterday with a couple of co-workers because I was craving BBQ. They both ordered the Lunch special of a Pull-Pork Sandwich meal. The Pulled Pork looked good when it was brought to the table and they both enjoyed the sandwich. I ordered a Half-Slab of Ribs and French Fries. The Ribs were GREAT !! So Tender that the Bones pulled right off of the meat. The Smoke Flavor was just right and I was Pleasantly surprised by the Spicy Kick in the BBQ Sauce. The French Fires were Crinkle Cut (my Favorite, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside). The Temperature of the Ribs and French Fries were nice and Very Hot, just the way I like my food !! The owner came over to our table and talked with us, and thanked us for dining at his establishment. I love the Customer Service. If there is a Large crowd looking to order, be prepared to wait a little for you food (worth the wait). I hope to visit Madison with my wife some time so that I can bring here here to enjoy the meal.
