Great North Aleworks Manchester

We had a co-ed baby shower at Great North Aleworks this past Saturday evening. Everything went great, from start to finish. The staff was very accommodating to all our needs and questions. First, they posted a note on their front door, warning patrons that a private event was scheduled, and that they would be closing promptly at 6. Very helpful, so we could get in there and start setting up and decorating for the 6:30 party. Next they had plenty of staff scheduled, to wait on our 50 guests (cash bar) so everyone was happy. All staff was friendly and helpful and quick. Trash bags were promptly emptied with they got full. (It's the little details that make a successful event!) We pre-ordered from their catering menu, and the food was more generous than I expected, so we had too much food left over!! We ordered three different types of pizza (one complaint: 2 were kind of burnt), 2 veggie platters (says 'feeds approx 15 people' - they were huge, and we had 1 1/2 platters left over), and 2 caesar salads (really good and fresh and crisp). The owner lady very kindly bagged up the leftover veggies for us to take home, and we were allowed to take home the 4 leftover pizzas. They don't allow outside food brought in, but allowed us to bring in cupcakes made special for the shower. The room & facilities are very clean and bright. And, of course, the beer was good! Also had non-alco drinks for all the pregnant ladies and teetotalers. Many guests said "This was the funnest baby shower I've ever been to!" :)
