Dim Sum Cafe is a happy find. It's small on the inside but packs a lot of yummy food. I have been two times now. So far, everything I've tried is satisfying. I will definitely frequent here many times. Small private owned business. Seems family ran. Service is great. Can get busy but that is to be expected. It's hard to find a good dim sum place in Phoenix and I think this has been the best one yet.
I recently visited a quaint cafe in Mesa, Arizona that, despite being named after dim sum, offers a rather unconventional approach to this beloved culinary tradition. It's important to note that if you're seeking an authentic dim sum experience, this might not be the ideal place for you.
Firstly, the cafe's limited space and small size may not accommodate larger groups comfortably. However, the cozy atmosphere does have its own charm and can create an intimate dining experience.
One aspect that stood out was the departure from the traditional dim sum service style. Instead of the customary cart service, where servers push carts laden with a variety of dim sum dishes, customers are required to order directly from the menu. This deviation might disappoint those seeking the interactive and dynamic nature of selecting dim sum dishes at their own pace.
When it comes to the dim sum itself, I found the flavors to be somewhat ordinary. While the selection was decent, it didn't quite capture the authenticity and complexity that one would expect from traditional dim sum establishments.
On a positive note, I did try the Beef Brisket & Tendon Noodle Soup, which showcased tender pieces of beef brisket and tendon cooked in a special chee hou sauce. The dish was served on flat rice noodles in a flavorful soup base, and it provided a satisfying and hearty option for those seeking a different taste experience.
In summary, if you're looking for an authentic dim sum experience with bustling cart service and exceptional flavors, this might not be the ideal spot. However, if you're open to a unique twist on dim sum and appreciate a cozy ambiance, you might still find something enjoyable at this cafe.
We really liked the chow fun, it was delicious. The fried dough was also good, tasted better the second time we ordered it, soft and fresh, good combination with the soy milk.
👍Shumai was really good, lots of meat and good flavor.
👎The Shanghai soup dumplings were just so so. Not much soup in it, and the flavor was not right.
Good service, reasonable price.
