My husband and I and our two friends participated in a cooking class at the Fig Cooking School last Thursday, June 7, 2018. This was something we have been wanting to do for a very long time and finally had the opportunity. The class far exceeded our expectations. We arrived 15 minutes prior to the start time, signed in and were given our aprons, water and a very nice welcome! There were 18 in our group, which is a very large group, but Heidi and her staff facilitated the event with ease, professionalism, providing a very laid back, relaxing atmosphere! Heidi explained why she used every ingredient and where the ingredients can be purchased and explained her cooking techniques every step of the way. For instance, our class made Fried Chicken, Corn Bread and Cucumber Salad. She used a Cast Iron Skillet to make the Fried Chicken and the Corn Bread. Using the Cast Iron Skillet is definitely the key to making great Fried Chicken and Corn Bread. When we were done with the lesson, everyone sat down together and we were served our meal by Heidi and her Staff. We got to sit and talk with everyone and Heidi even sat down with us after the meal was done to get our feedback on the lesson and the meal. It was such a great overall experience!! We will definitely attend another class. Actually there were people there that have been several times already, which speaks volumes to the experience. There were Mother/Daughters, Friends, Husbands and Wives and even a mother who came by herself. It was a great mix of people. If you thinking about signing up for one of Heidi's classes, please don't hesitate; you will NOT be disappointed!! Thank you to Heidi to you and your staff for making our evening so memorable and enjoyable. GREAT JOB!!! Pam & Joe Skorupski

Since there are plenty of wonderful reviews about Heide's cooking school, I would like to mention how much my husband and I enjoyed Heide's inaugural brunch today. The menu is small but select with a couple of pretty unusual entrees. I had the salmon timbale (smoked salmon filled with trout mousse served on a cucumber salad and garnished with pickled red onion) and my husband had the lavender and chocolate chip pancakes. Both were delicious and beautifully presented. My husband also had the Thai iced tea, an unusual combination of black tea, spices and I believe coconut milk. My husband is in a wheelchair and the entire space is beautifully accessible. Warm, efficient service rounded out a lovely experience.

Heide, the owner and head chef of Fig, helped me plan a PERFECT surprise 40th party for my husband at Fig. She worked with me to come up with a menu he would love, thought of all the little details (ways to make the event personal, how to get him there for the surprise), and was just a perfect accomplice for organizing the event! We cooked delicious Mexican food, and everyone participated as much or as little as they wanted in the food preparation process. It was the perfect blend of friends catching up & talking & celebrating, and learning some amazing recipes that are not hard to replicate at home (we have made the dessert twice already and the main meal as well, in just the ten days since the party!!). Heide doesn't just teach you the recipes, she also has so much information on where to get great local ingredients, little techniques to make prep faster, etc. I *highly* recommend Fig for a private party, and I'm looking forward to signing up for additional classes as well--it would be fun to do with friends and also a great birthday gift for anyone who enjoys cooking.

I’ve taken three classes at the Fig Cooking School: Beyond the Sea, A Summer Evening in Provence, and Spice Market Morocco. All were excellent. I had a fun time and three great meals. I came away with the hands-on knowledge and clearly-written recipes to enable me to make all of the dishes myself at home, which I have done several times. I’ve brought some to parties, where they were a big hit, and have cooked the full meals for friends to great acclaim. The chef/teacher, Heidi Lang, is winderful: knowledgeable, accessible, warm, fun and funny. Most of my classmates were couples, or a group of friends, but I went solo and did not feel like the odd man out. It was just a fun time with a great group of people.

We recently attended their Southern Comfort class and it was incredible!! Can't say enough good things about the experience we had. It's super informative and the small group setting allows you to be as hands on as you'd like. We really enjoyed that you got to see the entire process from start to finish, and the food was worth all the time and energy. The fried chicken was insanely good and paired perfectly well with the cucumber salad. The real surprise was the Jack Daniels chocolate pudding, it was delicious and a great way to end the meal. We can't wait to go back to try another one of their classes!

Hubby and I attended a Valentine's dinner cooking class at Fig. We really enjoyed this experience learning to make new recipes in a class environment. Heidi, along with her attentive staff, was a very informative teacher with a great sense of humor😁She took her time to explain every step of the recipes we took part in preparing. The food we prepared was absolutely scrumptious, and getting to know our "classmates" for the evening was such a pleasure! I highly recommend attending a class there, it's a really fun experience to share with your significant other, friends, and other family members.

Oh my goodness! What a fun night out ending with a fabulous dinner!!! My husband and I first attended the French Bistro class at the Fig Cooking school this past summer to celebrate our 8th wedding anniversary. We had an absolutely amazing night cooking - learning handy recipes and techniques as well as some more elaborate dishes for special occasions. And, the dinner at the end was absolutely scrumptious. It was amazing because when we arrived at the Fig School, we were surrounded by strangers, but by the time we sat down to enjoy our meal, it felt like an intimate dinner with our closest friends. During the meal Heidi, the owner who is an absolute delight, goes around the room and asks each participant what their favorite part of the night was and you struggle to pick just one thing. From the incredible recipes to the cooking tips and tricks, the entire night is just an amazing experience!

My boyfriend, Dan, and I attended the Vegetarian Farmer’s Market Favorites class tonight and had the absolute best time!! Heidi and Francesca were so sweet, and we loved meeting everyone else in the class as well. And the food and wine were both incredible!! We’ll definitely come back as soon as we can!!!

We were recently at the Fig Cooking School for a Parisian Winter Dinner cooking class. We were greeted warmly and quickly joined in the convivial group that was assembling for the night. Heidi lead the class and had us all go around the room telling our name and a little about ourselves. The recipes, materials and veggies were laid out before us and class began. We all learned techniques and tips, got a chance to stir and mix as we went, and thoroughly enjoyed the class and each other’s company. At the end, we sat around two communal tables to enjoy the fruits of our labor. All-in-all it was a wonderful time and a wonderful cooking class. I learned a lot and am hoping I get to do it again.
