Speaking for the brunch menu, there's a great selection and things are really well priced. I got the el sur grits and the vegan peach cobbler and both were really delicious! I'll have to come back to try the rest of the menu. Highly recommended!

A great addition to the neighborhood: It's a bright, friendly place with delicious food. What more could you want? The Acadian dish with shrimp and andouille sausage over cheddar grits had a deep spicy flavor. And some details really stand out like the spa water and the dedication to community through a round-up program. The staff and owners were friendly and welcoming. They've been open since August, so I wish I had stopped by earlier. I'll be back.

We visited Funky Grits today for a late lunch after some friends recommended it. I can't wait to go back! We ordered the Soggy Bottom and Acadian - both were delicious! The servers were polite and well-informed. They even asked how we felt about our dishes and if we had any suggestions. We didn't have to wait long at all for our food. The owner was super personable and I love that their some of their revenue supports a local nonprofit.

The Funky Grits was good, but didn’t exceed my expectations. I’m from the south so I grew up around grits. I enjoyed the ambiance and the service was great, but I didn’t feel the authenticity of where making grits originated...the South. I ordered the Acadian ...pretty much shrimp ‘n’ grits. The presentation was excellent, but the taste fell a little short. Price range was $11-13/bowl which is little pricey considering grits are pretty cheap. I would recommend the Funky Grits for someone interested in trying grits for the first time, but not for someone who grew up with grits as a staple.

Small venue, down to earth. Oldies Motown music. I enjoyed the flavorful shrimp and grits (Arcadian). There may be a bit of slow service because of small staff, but they are very friendly. Give them a try. Ps. They do a brunch buffet, call for details and times.

Great family owned southern cuisine restaurant. The flavors are great. Must try the walleye cakes, seafood grits, and the avocado appetizers!

Soggy bottom, FMLand Jive Turkey. All amazing. The sweet potatoes were absolutely perfect in my opinion and the grits we cooke very well. It was day 1 and it all tasted great. I’m sure it will just start to taste better as time goes on.

The staff was very good at explaining the different choices and there are quite a few. Delicious grits, especially the blue cheese. Excellent shrimp and the fried avocados are a must try. Not a fancy place, but clean and neat. Order at the counter and they bring to your table.

AMAZING. If you like grits, (or other good food) you need to try this place! The Funky Grits were the first thing I tried and absolutely phenomenal. The Acadian (in the picture) also very good! I’ll definitely be back to try brunch and everything else on their menu. Not to mention always great, fast service and it’s a place with a good cause that supports a non-profit.

Came with my family and we all tried different versions of the grits + vegan grits, and the peach cobbler. It clearly is true to its southern roots, but they've also elevated it for sure. 100% worth the visit. I'll recommend it as a place for absolutely anyone who loves a hearty big breakfast or lunch.
