This place is great! I wanted to bring my stepmother somewhere in my new neighborhood and decided to try Sassafras and we are so happy we came by! I got the Hot Sassy Burger, which was half ground beef, half Pattons Hot Sausage and all good. Hands down one of the best burgers I've had in New Orleans. I also got a side of mac and cheese which was also very good. My stepmother got the King Oyster Ceaser and ate every bit of it, which is really saying something. Aside from the food (and the very reasonable prices), the service was great too. Our servers were beyond helpful, she even pointed out all of her favorites on the menu. I will definitely be returning soon!
Had a delay in my flight back to New York and a close friend lived walking distance went there for lunch and it exceeded my expectations, the staff were falling all over us, they were phenomenal and we were greeted by the owners, manager's kitchen and server's. If you're ever in the area it's a must to stop in
Everything was great. Service was excellent and the food was delicious. We had gumbo to start then split stuffed bell peppers and smothered okra with shrimp.
Everything was outstanding. We will definitely be back.

This restaurant was amazing. I had the special with jambalaya, fried catfish and salad and my boyfriend had the Hot Sassy burger- both dishes were amazing! Very nice and clean restaurant, quick delivery of food to table and the most polite waitresses we had during our trip to New Orleans. Highly recommend- especially for the price. Great experience all around.
It was worth the drive and wait! Excellent service and food! We will definitely be back.
Solid good food. Ole' Treme Jambala Combo was fine. It was a little lite on the shrimp and sausage, and they were small pieces. The grilled catfish was excellent. Dry Rub Baby Back Ribs were flavorful, but not falling off the bones. Terry did an outstanding job as our server. Vegies, broccoli and green beans were both overdone.
I am a vegetarian and I really enjoyed my food! The service was excellent and the vibe in the restaurant was nice, relaxed, and chill. My friends love seafood and they said it was best meal they had the whole weekend we were in NOLA. Highly recommend you pay Sassafras a visit!
Man this place is a diamond in the rough its off in a shopping center in the very last space and it does it no justice. It should be out in the front so everyone can see and experience such awesomeness! Absolutely wonderful place to visit.
The food was good and the service was good. We had the large fried seafood platter. It had fish, oysters and shrimp served with fries, but you can sub the fries for something else for a small fee. The older lady uses a demeaning tone when she talks to people and can be a little snappy. Don't let this deter you because you don't have to deal with her if you don't want to. Lol. Ask for Deja. She's really sweet.
First visit for lunch was great. Appetizer was fried zuchinni...excellent. For my entre, I ordered the grilled catfish along with jambolaya. Portions are more than generous making the value great. Deliciously seasoned. Will be back because I want to try more items. Have rated a 5 star because the service was friendly and attentive along; the food delicious and the restaurant quite comfortable.
