This past Sunday we celebrated my friends birthday at La Nueva España. The service was great and we had a great time. Thanks to the whole management team.

Solid Dominican Fare @ La Nueva España. My spouse and I have dined at both La Nueva España locations which feature Latin-Caribbean food. The restaurants are Dominican but much of the menu can easily identify as Cuban or Puerto Rican eats as well. La Nueva España's style features garnishes and aiolis in the nuevo cuisine mode. Yet, they do not stray from traditional preparations and flavors.
We were a party of six last evening. We ordered several appetizers for sharing. There were tostones magicos, a tostone pressed into a cup shape and filled separately with shrimp or chicken creole style. We had fried breaded rings of calamares and a platter of tender juicy chicken breast cut into squares.
My main course was shrimp mofóngo. The shrimp is served in creole sauce. My spouse picked her staple dish, the chicharrón de pollo. She shared her side order of molondrones guisados with me. I am addicted to stewed okra.
The cortadito here is a fitting finish to a meal. I was too stuffed to partake of either trés leches or flán.
I like the comestibles at this La Nueva España location on Saint Nicholas Avenue.

We found out about La Nueva España and sampled its fare a few months ago, but we didn’t take any photos during that visit. So we planned a return trip that would include photography. Since the neighborhood around the restaurant is important to the story,
