This is one of the hamburger joints that has stood the test of time. Big Ed's may not have as many locations as before, but this location is cooking some delicious burgers grilled on a flat top. I ordered a double burger with grilled onions. When I was ordering, the employee asked if I wanted mayo or mustard. I chose the latter and got mustard on both the top and bottom buns. I had to ask for ketchup; I think all burgers taste better with a mix of ketchup and mustard on them. I also got some lettuce and tomato on the double burger.

These burgers are a lot like the ones at Patty Wagon or The Cow Calf-Hay or Irma's -- more on the dry side. There is no danger that your bun is going to disintegrate from burger grease. It is more likely to fall apart due to the just-washed lettuce or the generous amount of mustard that was put on the bun for you. Mine held up just fine. The burgers had a good grilled flavor, but it wasn't as good as I have had at The Garage, S&B's, Nic's, or Syd's. The grilled onions were a step up from other places because there were enough of them that you could taste them and they were grilled to just-melting instead of crisp-tender.

They have a gyro sandwich and a spicy burger (with a hot link) that make this place well worth a second trip the next time I am on this side of town.

During the past couple of weeks I've been house-sitting for some friends and their dogs. As I would drive from their house to me house to check on things I kept passing by the sole remaining location of the Big Ed's Hamburger "empire" which had its pinnacle in the lay 1980s and early 1990s; Ed Thomas had 50 restaurants mostly in Oklahoma with a handful in southern Kansas.

Have been coming here for 8 years and the food has always been amazing and extremely tasty! Family friendly atmosphere and the prices cannot be beat when it comes to fresh handmade hamburgers. If you've got a big group I recommend getting the Big Ed and seeing if you can finish it or not! Ed is awesome and will no doubt put a smile on your face. Whenever someone asks me for a good burger place to go to this is where I send them.
