We love Old Orchard Beach. There were a few things open in April, but not much. It's worth mentioning, there aren't any public bathrooms open and neither are most of the restaurants. There were a few ice cream shops and a few other little trinket shops open. The pay and Park lots are also closed. There is limited amount of curbside parking and a few other places that have free parking. They do have 2 port-a-potties near the public bathroom if you're brave. Everything else opens May 1st. Regardless, the beach was wonderful as always.

Not your typical beach town Pier, at least from the ones we’ve been too. There’s all kinds of shops, sports bars and places to eat all on the actual pier itself, which was cool. FYI, the bathrooms are .75/ea to use, which we thought kind of strange. We walked all the way to the end of the pier, realized we were very hungry and we decided to order some food for dinner and sit sit out on the Sunset Deck of the Patio Pub at the end of the pier. Food is good, but is kind of pricey and portions are somewhat small. You’re basically paying for the atmosphere and the scenery. It’s a great place to people watch.
We didn’t physically go onto the Pier and travelling with our dogs so went to the beach early to walk them. Low tide is spectacular as the beach is so wide and you can walks for miles. As you can see we had perfect weather. Personally not interested in all the touristy shops so wanted to take in Old Orchard Beach when they were all closed and it was quiet.
Amazing place! We visited in mid-June on Sunday afternoon. And it felt like we went back in time 40 years (in a good way!). Rustique pier, sandy beach swith showers, and amazing views! Not to foget plenty of shops, restaurants, public restrooms and an amusement park. 🎠🎡🎢 Plenty of parking on the nearby paid parking lots.
Beautiful views even in the winter. Beautiful boardwalk charm. Businesses were closed as expected. Still a nice place to take a walk by yourself or with your dog. Can't wait to visit in the summer
Went in mid- September. The weather was great. They had a car show that weekend and the pier had a good crowd. Not everything was open, but enough to shop or dine. I love the rustic feel of it. People were friendly.
Pleasantly surprised that the old pier (from when I grew up in the State of Maine) is still thriving! Kind of quiet now that it is off season, but you can see the investment and care put into the area shops, hotels, restaurants, bars, etc. Can't wait to visit again when in Summer Beach going Season!
