Layout/atmosphere *Small shop; pictures of sandwiches on the wall plus the accolades the place has received; owner Dennis Fink was there (USMC veteran); no tip jar instead veteran’s fundraiser; only potato chips & water besides the menu items Service *Quick Food/drink *Original Italian (cotechino, Genoa salami, ham capocollo, pepperoni, provolone/chopped, olive spread, lettuce, tomato, red onion & long hot peppers on sesame bread) - Good; huge portion; get the spicy from the long hot, the salt & pepper from the meats, freshness from lettuce & tomato, acidity from onions & olives, sharpness of the cheese *The Tacony (roast beef, asparagus, provolone, balsamic vinegar, special seasonings) - good *The Holmesburg (prosciutto, roasted peppers, roasted garlic, provolone cheese, oil & vinegar, special seasonings) - good [All sandwiches came with a peppermint candy]

Original Italian half $8. Not bad, everything is really fresh. Rich volume of meat. Candy included.

Has been the best hoagie in Philly for some time now. The owner is a vet, and he's there working with his staff every day. Bread is always made fresh from a local Italian baker and the best part of the sandwich. If he runs out of fresh rolls before the day is over, that's it. He would rather lose money than use bread from a local market. Please don't sleep on this place.
