Nice to have an all vegan option. If you’re craving stereotypical American Indian you might be disappointed. This restaurant is more of a modern vegan PNW take on Indian cuisine. Ingredients were fresh. Lots of indo-Chinese influence. Staff was nice. Outdoor seating available. The “small plates” are plenty good for one with some rice or bread.
We loved the ambiance of the outdoor seating, and we had a nice amount of space for our elderly dog napping in his stroller next to our table. The staff was really nice and friendly. I had a mango lassi to drink, and my husband had a cocktail. I liked the mango lassi, but I hadn't realized how thick and filling it would be (hadn't had one in many years), so next time I'd stick with a lighter drink to save more of my appetite for the yummy food. We got the soy curl tikka masala plate, the pickled broccoli and cauliflower pakora, and the spicy cucumber. We hadn't realized we would already be getting cucumber with the tikka masala - we would have skipped that dish if we realized. The pakora was outstanding, and so were the soy curls, rice, and the dal. It was a lot of food for the two of us; we had to take about half of the pakora home for later.
A lovely spot with subtle lighting and candles, vintage Bollywood movie posters.
A great restaursnt to bring your vegan date and impress them.
I enjoyed the Indo-Chinese Soy Curl Dish and the Chana Masala was tasty.
The staff was very polite and professional.
This was my second time to The Sudra, though my first time to this location. Everything I've ordered has been amazing. The service, the quality, flavor, freshness of the food ~ all wonderful. This time around I ordered the Pakora Banana Split for dessert. Hands down the best $10 I ever spent!
I'm not even vegan or vegetarian, so this review is saying a lot. Everything is so flavorful & great, you don't even miss the meat! :)
It was so wonderful to finally make it into The Sudra for dinner. Everything is perfectly seasoned and delicious. The staff is friendly, and the space is adorable. All the food was so delicious, that I absolutely could not choose a favorite. We ordered the chicken -less tikka masala bowl, the chickpea cutlet plate, and the potato samosa plate. Super, super yummy! All vegan, all scrumptious.
Interesting and healthy take on Indian food. Loved the flavours. We had lentil kofta and chickpea cutlet, and it was yummy.. loved the way they blended kale in Indian cuisine.
Small platter might not be sufficient for one person.
Reminded me of the home flavours . You will never know it's vegan , definitely worth giving a shot, if you are into vegan or Indian.
Warm host, unique blend of flavours and good take on Indian Vegan cuisine . We had the jackfruit vindaloo bowl, The vegan thali with Chettinad "Chicken", The only issue I had was , it had way too much Kale, but that's just my personal preference.
Though we didn't try they have an amazing selection of cocktails and mocktails.
Amazing Indian fusion food, the best I’ve ever had.
Underrated! It's Indian inspired menu tastes more authentic than most Indian restaurants in Portland or dare I all say the entire country. Everything is cooked just right! Rich in flavor but no excessive oil or cream. Whether you are vegan or not dont matter, it is simply delicious
Beautifully presented plant based Indian. Delicious to palate your other four senses.
